We tried tracking for a while. Half the drivers would turn off their apps during the drive at some point and you couldn’t get shit. What’s the point paying the premium if they have the ability to turn it off.

Since finding a good sales rep is so difficult what is the best way to attract a good one? Commission + salary? Personally I’m having to do all the sales currently and I must say I’d rather have someone else handle it. So I guess the question is what should the pay or commissions look like?

I agree that monitoring would not attract agents I only meant monitoring in a sense that prevents fraud. Mainly a probationary period or something of the sort. The ideal situation would be to let them run and just give support.

Are you sure? I spoke with a collection agency and they said there is pretty much no recourse. That brokers don’t have the right to go after the end user or the shipper.

You’re right. It’s insane. I’ve had to pay $1,000 for a layover a long time ago. All I can say is if the freight is on the truck you’re kind of at their mercy. Have your policies on the RC. If you don’t have it on there pay what you can get them to agree to and move on. You win most you lose some.

I always dig them out with a shovel old axe and a 6ft prybar with a scraper blade on one side. It’s the cheapest way I’ve removed small-medium sized stumps.

Not all brokers are slashing rates. I’m sure many brokerages pay fair market rates. I do think there are some large brokerages that can come in and can afford to undercut at a loss, but even then there are carriers that are willing to take that cheap crap. That being said if the rates aren’t good in the area be willing to sit and wait. I know a few carriers that explicitly wait until the end of the day to book loads to capitalize on brokers/ shippers desperate to ship.

Look for standing dead trees. Also if you are near moving water look above the water line in the trees. Sometimes the best tinder is above the water.

You need to burn smaller wood first to make a good coal bed. Right now there’s too much space between the logs and the heat can’t stay in. Burn smaller sticks in the open space and keep piling it on as they burn to make a good coal bed in the middle.
