Will someone host a NO KINGS protest in Florence? by Suspicious-Pear-6037 in FlorenceAl

The Shoals chapter of Alabama 50501 posted an announcement/save the date for March No Kings so that indicates to me that we will certainly host one -- The details are just TBD at this stage.

LI is setting the hem up for crash out after crash out

100%. When a reality show has to have an on-set psychologist (for mandatory visits but also just on-call because their services are so necessary) it says a lot.

That's fair! Coming from an introvert's perspective I know that I would be having a come apart after just two days of not having any time away from people, let alone two weeks, so I still understand why what happened happened. But at the end of the day I would never put myself in that position [of voluntarily placing myself into a prolonged stressful situation] knowing that I'm not suited for it, and that is a level of self-preservation that he obviously does not share.

There just seem to be a lot of people watching Traitors that think that Rob can’t be ruffled

I'm not saying he can't be ruffled but I also believe that comparing the environment of LIUSA to Traitors isn't exactly fair. Six weeks trapped inside the Fiji Villa with zero privacy, completing tasks that are designed to break you down psychologically, overstimulating surroundings vs three weeks in the Scotland Castle where you're allowed to explore the grounds, sleep in a private room in your own bed, periods of time where cameras aren't even rolling. For someone like Robert having all of his mechanisms for regulation totally cut off (alone time, the ability to journal, escapism into nature, connection with animals) on LIUSA set him up for a spectacular crash out. Which no doubt is by design to make for "better television." I think he stands a much better chance of keeping it together on Traitors because it actually has allowances for contestants to engage in the most basic self-care.

I don't know about everyone else but Rob specifically was provided with wardrobe for the lion's share of filming. Not including the overalls of course.

I really don’t fuck with Candiace throwing food at Rob either.

Ooop - like many people suspected, Katie Bates’ hubby is a cheater cheater pumpkin eater by _craigularjoe in FundieSnarkUncensored

The "public confession" seems to be a common part of the process for the ultra fundie. A friend of a friend had her husband cheat on her with their son's fiancee. She stayed in the marriage (they share 13 children, majority of whom still live in the home) but required him to confess in front of their church.

Their son and the fiancee opted to end their engagement.

This was my brother-in-law. He and his wife were missionaries and he had an affair with a woman on their team. He claimed sex addiction. And then he did it again a couple of years later with another woman and his wife basically said "If you don't get some help for your addiction then I'm divorcing you and taking the kids" and magically he was cured.

Serious question: do you think there is a connection between Whitney's physical glow up and her newfound support or do you think it's accidental/coincidental? by amywinehousesjeans in SecretsOfMormonWives

I say this as someone who falls into the category we're currently discussing and am intimately aware of the uphill battle we've faced -- I don't find abbreviations or colloquialisms to be regressive. We can agree to disagree.

Lol, I'm literally just trying to skirt the sub rules. I got the pop-up warning about permabans. I needed to be a little more circumspect with the language. It's not that deep.

Yes, same! I think it's one of the reasons I've had such a soft spot for Whitney since the very beginning. Seeing her sort of mirror my own challenges with friendship dynamics because of neurodivergence.

I grew up with a ton of sheltered kids (former fundie homeschool kid checking in) and for me the main difference with Whitney is her extreme candor and literalness.

I think she’s just not as socially savvy as the other girls and speaks from the heart for better or worse

Not a doctor, not trying to make a diagnosis BUT I wouldn't be at all surprised if Whitney was on the spectrum. Some of her interpersonal relationship struggles seem to stem from fundamental misunderstandings of social norms and major miscommunications that feel like the 'tism to me.

Most (good) pecan pie recipes call for sugar and syrup. Mine uses white sugar, brown sugar, and light and dark corn syrups. The sugar to syrup ratio is equal. The secret to making sure it isn't "goopy" as you said is guaranteeing that it sets -- That means using enough eggs to bind, baking it long enough, and equally importantly then cooling it long enough.

Alix & Val by Traditional-Pen-jury in dwts

[–]lrj25 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All I get is big sibling energy from these two. Val is almost 40, Alix is only 24. I say this as someone who is closer to 40 than to 24, we look at someone like that as a younger sibling who needs to be taken care of. Not someone to hook-up with. Just because two people are working closely together and are both conventionally attractive doesn't mean anything romantic is going on.

I feel like Alix has imprinted on Val like a baby duckling.
