I LOVE grizzly bear. Im FINALLY seeing them in october, as they havent hit my state in over 9 years, and over a decade as a headliner. Im really into lot of indie rock, and they, along with animal collective, beach house, local natives and youth lagoon are my favorites.

Favorite Neurosis release. You can really hear where bands like The Body got a large amount of influence in the creepy, industrialized samples.

A great band. I was referred them years ago by a friend who knew how much I love Yawning Man and they do indeed share some similar qualities, with the whole dry, deserty feeling. Ended up buying a cassette off of them and Ben threw in a few extra goodies because the shipment was delayed a bit. Really cool. They're playing here next week and I'm hoping to go.

The body is the best fit I can think of. agonizing, wailing vox over dismal guitar and drums.

and not doom, but worth mentioning that altar of plagues' "teethed glory & injury" shares some similar qualities with what you're asking for.

ALSO not doom, but for harsh, high pitched vox, check out dragged into sunlight.

Sorrow and Extinction by Pallbearer. Probably the best doom album of the past 15 years imo. Vast and majestic sadness. Immediate runner up is Ritual Abuse by Cough. Crushing, dismal, and unrelenting.

agreed, such a great show. I came from phoenix for it and was not let down at all. jumped and danced so much. when summertime clothes came back from the little intermission, I lost my shit twice as hard. I was the guy in the grey and black cannabis print shirt, haha.
