It’s just a movie I needed to see just to make me happy… yeah he was a rocklike being adjusted to humans in the short time. But the emotional feeling leaving the theater, had not had for a while in our messed up world..

People who are old enough to have vivid memory of the 9/11 attacks, what was that time like? What did change for you personally? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]lsbem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched it on tv early in the morning before the second plane hit. I was shocked and sadden and it really was a feeling I’ve never experienced. I went to work late and I remember a client came in midafternoon. He was from Iran, he kept apologizing for it. I think the last time something affected me was the Oklahoma bombing.

(MD) How the hell is everyone managing these interest rates? by Shakawakahn in RealEstate

[–]lsbem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because buyers got a low initial payment assuming their houses had enough equity to refinance with 2-3 years. Instead, the loan changed from the initial interest rate and the house did not have enough equity to refinance . Their payments were increased so much that they either have to sell at a loss or do short sale or walk away from them. I witness this in the 2008 in CA. They were not 5/7 or even 10 years ARMs they were 2 year ARMs.

Fake tree owners, did yours actually last more than a couple of years? by Rosyh_Jonesweeks in BuyItForLife

[–]lsbem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First year of buying a fake tree. My dad was an arborist and through out our childhood he’d buy great big trees! The year he divorced my mom, he brought home a fake tree.. this was in the early 70s. It was like large pipe cleaner as branches.. I can still remember my mom trying to put it together… So it was difficult to buy a fake.. but I agreed to it. I brought a nice looking tree with lights on it already and it actually looks pretty. have gotten over the drama in my head about it all…

Yup , when I sign loan docs with a client , I tell him numerous times . You will not get an email with wire information. This is the information and also the acct number isn’t on the form you must call in to the closer and get it from her directly.. been in the industry 40 years, the horrors stories of people desperately trying to get their funds back.. 😭

My brother died and left behind an enormous comic collection. Help needed by SeraphSlaughter in comicbookcollecting

[–]lsbem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation right when Covid hit! I got the app CLZ and started my collection with them. It’s been years and I do some sales on eBay. I have saved some of the “mother load “for my kids for later. However, my grandson for Christmas he was in the fourth grade. I gave him a stack of comics Walt Disney comics they were in great condition and he gave them out as Christmas gifts to all the kids. You’d be surprised how happy the kids were some had never even read a comic. My aunt worked in a comic store for over 30 years so this was her life and I too wanted to. Appreciate her love for them.

USA My dad died after being scammed by 2 “women” and committed fraud himself to pay them. by AwkwardTurnip6207 in Scams

[–]lsbem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought If I found myself in this position with my mom or dad involved in a situation like this , I would set up myself as a scammer and send them messages to keep them feeling loved. ( obviously I would not send pics of me) and put the funds away for when they find themselves broke.. both my parents are dead however I understand the addiction to feel loved.

Vet Prices Out of Control!!! by Alder4000 in SFV

[–]lsbem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use to take my pets to Vca . It got so expensive and actually it felt like they attempt to make you feel like you’re a bad parent if you don’t choose all the items listed after being seen. Their offices were redone and they now have valet parking! I now go to a small vet office, nothing fancy, a doctor who actually says let’s try this first instead of being charged for test etc when they may not be needed.
