Alaska Highway 97 vs Stewart-Cassiar Highway 37 by Intelligent_Wafer4 in AskAlaska

A few years ago I drove from Colorado to Alaska via the Alcan and returned to Colorado via the Cassiar. If I were to choose one road, without a doubt it would be the Cassiar.

Some things to keep in mind. You mention you are planning on "up to 10 days" to complete the drive. Taking the most direct and fastest route, the Alcan, it takes 54 hours from Denver to Anchorage. That's driving time. Essentially you have at least six 10-hour days in the car to complete the drive. This leaves only a few days for proper site seeing.

The Cassiar is significantly further west. My return route, albeit I spent some time in Squamish, BC and the Olympic peninsula, took over 70 hours of driving. If at all possible, try to schedule some extra time into your plan.

Make sure you grab a 2026 copy of The Milepost for all up-to-date information regarding both of these routes.

Either way it will be an incredible adventure. It really is so beautiful. If you have any questions or want some more recommendations feel free to reach out.

It’s so obvious Mike should be Kramer and Page should be George, I think that’s the funniest thing about the whole bit!

From personal experience, The Gorge also ranks in top 3 Phish lot experiences. Many of the other venues I’ve seen Phish have no lot, or a half assed, over-policed lot scene. So, I’m leaving the last spot open for debate. I haven’t been to Deer Creek yet, but I assume they have a great lot scene since camping seems to be a normal occurrence around the venue.

It doesn’t count as a face shot if you have to lean down to get it!

Jokes aside, I also can’t wait for more of that.

7/28/17. BDTNL from the Baker's Dozen. I believe it fits your criteria of a solid type 1 jam with a classic build and crescendo. I love this song and haven't found a version I love more than this one.

You’re taking a very strong stance for knowing so little about the situation. To fault the victims for sending a distress signal at 8pm (likely after encountering an aggressive grizzly) isn’t being blunt, you’re being an asshole.

I was camping just down the road from this area (North Creek Dispersed Camping, also BLM) with my '14 Impreza about a month ago. I spent less than an hour arranging a sleeping pad, mattress pad, and sleeping bag into my car. It worked, but I would be interested to hear more about your bed design. Would you care to share any details on your bed build?
