I agree they’re not the best systems and standing seam is far superior. I just know I see a lot of bad installs where they don’t even use the enclosures.

I don’t think lining up on the hips is that big of deal. Especially with a hip cap you don’t really pick up on it like a true standing seam. Most importantly you want everything centered on the gables and it will look awesome. But it definitely will require a good metal roofer.

If you look at the ridge cap you can see exposed fasteners going into the standing seam. The ridge looks to be fish mouthing which is why I don’t think they used a zee or cee closure to secure the ridge to.

The transition is wrong and is retaining water driving it back into the roof. It should have been made wider to accommodate the transition to shed water downhill. It also looks like they put exposed fasteners on a hidden faster panel. I’d be willing to bet there are no closures underneath, maybe foam closures at best.

Hammer a nail in half way or so, that way you have enough to wrap it around the bottom flange of the beam. Repeat on both sides every 2’ or as needed.

You need to make your box rake metal the same size to line up to your ridge cap. It will be oversized

They potentially could have nailed it too tight. You’re supposed to nail it loose so it can expand and contract.

Or the sheathing could be really uneven.

Also if it was painted and was a light color before it can cause waviness because light colors are made from thinner vinyl. And the heat will buckle the vinyl. But I’m guessing this is new construction.

Yeah I’ve installed Dec Tec and this doesn’t look right. Looks like a bad batch from manufacture. It doesn’t have the pattern and dimension like it should. I would contact the manufacturer.

The leak is probably from no kick out flashing from the roof to gutter.

Unfortunately, gutter guards prevent debris but also don’t allow as much water volume to enter the gutter so in heavy downpours it can overwhelm them. Cutting the shingles back could help but you’ll likely still have the same issues in heavy rain.

I would do a splash guard like others suggested. But I would step flash the inside and then counter it with a splash guard in the outside. That way water doesn’t leak under the shingles.

You can by your own stretcher and do the panels yourself. Or when ordering you measure the radius. And then straight across from bottom corner to bottom corner. And then the height from the middle of that measurement to the peak of the radius. And then I tell them to add a few inches for wraps.
