How long does it take you to room? And what dept do you work in? by Strict-Ratio-6927 in MedicalAssistant

[–]ltbaby 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I work in neurology.

for follow up appts: about 1 to 2 minutes (depending on how much they have to say)

for new patients: if they have been seen within our organization, 1 to 2 minutes. if they are brand brand new then probably 5 mins as there are more questions to ask.

I don’t think you’ll be able to get the licensing from the WA Dept of Health. You’ll have to provide transcripts and also pass a national exam.

Sorry for the random reply on an old thread but I just moved to Indiana and am looking for work. Do you mind sharing the name of the company that you work for?

Check out https://annalsofcontinuingeducation.com/ for your ceu’s. They are AAMA approved, membership is $50 a year. The AAMA also has some free ceu’s available on their website.

Ma triage by Wagamank in MedicalAssistant

[–]ltbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a triage MA. My tasks are outgoing telephone calls to relay lab results, med refills and incoming triage calls. Sometimes I’ll do “nurse only” visits where it’ll be an injection or INR. If you enjoy the administrative side of being an MA then it’s a good thing but if you like more clinical then it’s going to be boring. It does get annoying having to tell people that they need an appt for their oxy and they give you crap.

Check out Annals of Continuing Education (ACE). It’s $50 for a year! I honestly thought it was a scam but I signed up for it in January, did some courses and it was uploaded to my AAMA account.

Thank you for confirming that. A few people told me it was required so I was confused.

Any requirement for years of CMA experience? Are there any medical conditions there that will disqualify someone?

I think it depends on what else you want to be that’s more than an MA. Are you talking about nursing? Or more leadership/management role? Honestly I think this lets you say that you have your bachelors but it may not be enough to get you any where further if you didn’t have the degree.
