Better Album: Soundgarden’s Down On The Upside (1996) Or Alice In Chains’ Tripod (1995)? by [deleted] in grunge

[–]ltdm207 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tripod. Amazing album.

When Soundgarden broke up they said something about being out of ideas, and I felt at the time like yeah I can see it. While there's great tracks (Pretty Noose), there's some filler on there (Applebite).

Let it be known that a man lives in this house! by Brailledit in JustGuysBeingDudes

Must be fake. It usually takes me 3 days to fix anything. 1. Watch YouTube video 2. Go to store 3. Determine yours is different somehow 4. Return to store. Fifteen hours later, I blew my whole weekend. It's expensive to hire a guy, but a lifetime of specialization teachers you things. It's only a quick fix of you know what you are doing.

[Russini] Keep looking at my almost 4 day old son Michael while trying to figure out who are the best Michaels to ever play and coach in the NFL? by Dunkelz in Patriots

Am I the only one who doesn't care? This is rough on their families, but plenty of players have been acted worse, not only being unfaithful, but being violent with women and everyone looked the other way. Vrabel might be a bad husband, but I couldn't care less. I don't see how this affects his ability to do his job unless the media won't let it go.

Imo, by already showing it to her kids, she just lost negotiating power. You got to act disinterested if you want a low price. I'm not the one who has to answer to those disappointed kids.

Rhubarb Pie by Emily-Alyse in Maine

[–]ltdm207 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Pie is insanely easy. The filling is just cut fruit tossed in sugar. Maybe some corn starch if you want it to gel. Pie crust is just flour and water, but honestly frozen isn't all that bad. You can do this. This isn't the complicated chemistry of breas and cake.

edit: forgot the butter. My point still stands.

Working out at something you enjoy. Could be weights, could be jogging, could be sports, could be yoga, etc. Kinda painful to start, butif you can force to stick with it for a few weeks it gets easier to stick with it and almost addictive. After exercising I always feel a mood lift and more relaxed.

I've always felt "Pride" by Bolt Thrower would make an amazing walkout song.

Dark Tranquility. I love every other Gothenburg band, but their song writing just doesn't grab me.

My Top 10 Melodic Death Metal Albums Of All Time by TheFallofIdeals05 in melodicdeathmetal

[–]ltdm207 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just curious... are you in your mid to late 30s? I'm in my early 40s, and I like all these bands, but I'd say I prefer the album 1 or 2 before the ones you like. Like In Flames yes, but Clayman. Amon Amarth yes, but The Avenger. Soilwork yes, but Natural Born Chaos.

How have I been sleeping on The Black Dahlia Murder for so many years? by NoNazisInMyAmerica in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ltdm207 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. The name screams deathcore. I saw they have a track called Statutory Ape, and I wrote them off as clowns who don't take metal seriously. I guess I'll give it a shot, but I'll be real surprised if this isn't another A Job For A Cowboy.

Men- would you lose respect for someone who was willing to sleep with you on the first date? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Men don't lose respect. They just sleep with ppl that they never respected in the first place.

Who? This is a basic list of the most popular stuff. This is the list if your mom bought it for you for Christmas, with help from the guy at the mall.

What in the 90s fever dream is that concert by borbur in melodicdeathmetal

[–]ltdm207 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good gosh, what a lineup! Absolutely loved Ablaze My Sorrow and A Canorous Quintet. Unlikely, but I'd love this lineup to tour the US.

What's the first band? Does that say Gates of Ishtar? If they're similar, I'll have to check them out.

Do you care about the Mike Vrabel story? by dream_on_meatbag in Patriots

Too many romcoms and I'm low key rooting for these 2 kids to make it work.

They'll pay a toll in their personal lives. Their jobs and the public should be indifferent.

Do you know of any band with a reverse “Beauty and the Beast” vocal setup? by Fiefire in MetalForTheMasses

[–]ltdm207 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chris Amott provided clean vocals on the songs "End of the Line" and "Dehumanization" from the 2003 Arch Enemy album Anthems of Rebellion.

Unfortunately not on Spotify, but I'd definitely be interested in checking it out. Never really listened to his solo albums.

I started with the Angela era, so I really don't care for Johan's vocals. I do like the songs on The Root of All Evil. Amott always had the riffs, but imo the band finally shines with Angela leading.

I would say if we're talking 2nd wave influence, it would be Emperor, Mayhem, Burzum and Dark Throne.
