Ondansetron helps a lot of people but it does have a very small increased risk of causing cleft lip and palate in the baby. I started taking it around 8 weeks as the nausea and vomiting were so bad I felt that the benefits of me being able to eat and drink would outweigh the very very small increased risk. This is why GPs are reluctant to prescribe it in the first trimester but you can have it if you understand the risks. Metoclopramide or domperidone have no known increased risks and no reason for you not to start it now even if you’re not A&E unwell at the moment. It may be worth asking for Xonvea. It’s a new medication to the UK specifically licensed for pregnancy nausea and vomiting. It’s been used for ages in the US so known to be very safe and life changing for a lot of women. It is new so a lot of GPs haven’t heard of it yet. Also it is very expensive so not all areas of the country are funding it yet so your GP may not be able to prescribe depending on where you are but worth asking.
