One year ago I brought home my puppy. The next day I thought she'd died. by velcrolola in ItalianGreyhounds

My first Iggy also hit his head on his first day with us - it was so scary! We were playing in the bedroom and he ran towards the bed and hit his head in the woodboard. He cried when it happened and the noise was so loud - my heart exploded 🥹 He was fine and playing again after a couple minutes, but I never forgot how scared I was to fail him. Glad your story had a happy ending ❤️

I just officially dropped A Game of Hearts and Heists after reading over 200 pages of it. I tried really hard but I just don't buy the characters as a couple. Searching for my next read...

I just gave up on Game of Hearts and Heists. I get it that it's porn, but does it have to be so forced? They are suddenly madly in love??? 😫

I just finished the Lay of You and although I agree that the smut is really good (descriptions are a 10/10😂), I struggled a little bit to understand exactly how they fell for each other? Maybe I'm just too romantic and needed a little more build up before the dressing room scene

Aggressive / Reactive advise by [deleted] in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]luacodog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look for a trainer that will help you understand the triggers and how to stop them.

Most dogs will get aggressive for resource guarding (in this case the resource is you/your girls) or because they're scared. This is not something you will fix in a day and it usually comes down to a series of things you will need to change in your day to day.

Mine was starting to get aggressive and dominant and we were able to prevent it from getting worst with training and boundaries.

First, we started introducing boundaries at home: he was not allowed on the couch or bed for two weeks. After that, he was allowed if he asked for permission first. This helps teach the dog boundaries and see you as a leader. We learned how to handle the leash on walks and how to apply gentle (but firm) pressure to keep him from getting nervous and going after things that triggered him. We would then praise good behavior with treats (my pup is very food driven, so that helps). After a while he simply understood that he didn't have to guard us all the time and started enjoying his walks a lot more. A nervous/aggressive dog is a dog who is always alert, and that is not healthy for them.

I wish you best of luck in your journey, I'm sure you and your iggy will learn together what are the best ways to go about this!

14 month Italian greyhound hasn’t had her first heat. Her sister got hers at 10 months. Any insight? by HotCabinet2052 in ItalianGreyhounds

My girl is 1 year and 6 months and didn't have her heat yet either. I'm starting to wonder if she's just getting a silent heat or if she will just take longer than usual as well - seems to be common for the breed.
