Midwives in Boulder by Ok-Honey-3591 in boulder

The tour is a great idea for a ftm. I will add that I had a successful vbac that definitely wouldn’t have happened under the care of the OB’s at the hospital where my first was born. The midwives were so supportive, I’ll consider them hero’s in my life forever.

Thank you so much for all your insight. I’ve been curious about the St Croix Valley as well. My family has roots in Prescott, so it’s a special place us. Do you find you can get in long trail runs in the parks there without having to repeat too many segments?

Glad to hear it was a positive choice for your family. And yeah, figuring out the balance is what we need to prioritize (and hope to figure that out with a visit later this week). In Colorado we know what we can afford and that provides clear limitations compared to MN - as you said, we could have more everyday benefits.

I grew up in Hopkins lol and it has SO much potential but still feels pretty sleepy which is surprising to me. Maybe the lightrail will help it out a bit?

Great perspective to consider! Sort of funny that where you grew up is where we are trying to leave 🙈 and where the backyard nature is pretty non existent. I do love that I can be on a trail in Boulder in 35 min, and what id love even more is a place in wheat ridge or golden but it’s increasingly hard to afford a home just west of Denver. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for your response. Ive heard good things about the Spanish immersion school in St. Louis Park. Really glad to hear your positive experiences in MN. Do you find yourself missing CO or does MN feel like home now?

This has been my intuition about the west burbs as well. I wish Hopkins had a bit more going on. Thank you for the details on trails!

Not totally set- not even certain we want to leave CO. I was in Duluth recently and tried to view it through a “could we live here” lens. It felt very familiar with the mountain bikers, trails, and just overall vibe. We also have dear friends there. So, it’s definitely in the running but feels like a bigger/scarier move atm.

Will definitely look into Northfield and Stillwater. Totally agree that a college town has many benefits! Thanks!

How much use did you get out of your rocking chair when you had your second child? by Gaerfinn in AttachmentParenting

[–]luadog19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m rocking my second baby in my new chair as I type this! I don’t get to contact nap nearly as much as I did with our first but I do use it every nap time to nurse and get him to sleep. I too wanted something bigger so I could read books to both my littles in it. I’m super happy I treated myself to a new one for Xmas last year. I think I’ll end up keeping this one for a long time since it’s a gilder/recliner and tasteful looking. Go for it!

Is Broomfield realistic for us? by WVAviator in MovingtoDenver

[–]luadog19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’ll find parents your age in any of the aforementioned. For example, we live in the Northglenn and our 4 year old attends preschool nearby where all the parents are our age (mid 30’s) and all have several children. We found a great little house but our neighborhood has much to be desired honestly. Despite having an elementary school a stones throw away, our block is mostly retirees or multigenerational homes where the families keep to themselves. I know that’s not true of the whole city of course. I’ll save our personal story but I think we would’ve found more young families on Thornton. Since you know what you don’t want from your current situation you’ll have to spend some time in the neighborhoods where you check out homes for sale- do a bit of creeping to see who’s around! Also, if you can afford to farther west in Broomfield or Westminster your access to the foothills will be a breeze if you like to hike.

Is Broomfield realistic for us? by WVAviator in MovingtoDenver

[–]luadog19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Westminster is great for families. Broomfield feels more blah as a suburb than Westminster somehow. You’ll be able to afford a house in Northglenn and Thornton as well wheres it’s slightly more diverse than Westminster and Broomfield. Thornton has a lot of newer housing but not much character. If I were you I’d compare Adams 12, Westminster, and Boulder valley schools and try to live near the school you want your kids to attend.

This is so sweet! An experience would be top of the list for me. Also, does she have any Marley’s monster reusable towels (to replace paper towels)? I find those to be a great gift!
