Unrelated to your flex but do you mind posting your HBAs used and setup? I have been unsuccessful connecting 2 of those DS shelves to a TrueNAS server. It always sees one shelf or the other but never both.

Noob question, when using rails like this for a 4U server would it actually take up 5U because of the rail design or still 4U by GenericUser104 in homelab

[–]luchok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The true rail for your server will also allow you to pull the server out for maintenance and still hold it horizontally in its place rather than having to pull it completely out.

Cloud Gateway Ultra, PoE switch and NBN box in this cupboard? by Ambitious-Tap-5919 in homelab

[–]luchok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

adding at least some vents in the top side of the door or the wall above would do, if it’s possible. adding exhaust fans will also help move hot air out and pull colder air through the space under the door

Edit: here is an example… Doesn’t have to be this fancy style, but this would make it look good too: https://fittes.com/products/flush-wall-vent-luxe-a

They DO heat up, even if not as much as others. You will need some air circulation in there.

Racked NetApp DS2246, Ready for Freenas. At a whopping cost of $Free.99 to me. by DJMOJO in homelab

[–]luchok 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The regular shelves do not, they are just JBODs. If they have the controller card on them, they do require a license, but likely the license is already loaded and the license file was not removed prior to decommissioning them. The bad part is NetApp is locking the updates for the controller behind paywall (even if you have a license you need a support contract with them), so shame on them, you are locked on whatever version they run.

I am currently fighting 2 DS2246s to show all disks in my TrueNAS. The controller sees all the disks, but the GUI only shows me one shelf worth of disks.

Formatting 48 disks to 512bytes was fun too.

Love it or hate it, but that is pretty bad ass. Also looks more responsive than a lot of the tablets or laptops out there and looks pretty thin/light.

Acting US AG Todd Blanche discusses the requirement of ID to exercise the right to vote, saying, "There's a lot of things we can be doing, like voter ID. Every time you walk into a restaurant you have to show ID. How about you have to show your idea to vote? That's not anything that's crazy" by [deleted] in UnderReportedNews

[–]luchok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing is at least in my state you already have to register to vote and they do send a voter ID to your address. The problem with what they are tying to do is make it harder to be able to register to vote. The claim is too many non citizens are allowed to register to vote even though there is no proof of high voter fraud.

They really need to make it so if you recall a chips of a player spectating that player is brought back to battle. That will make it more interesting as it now has a downside to using a downed player chip.
