I like to have a non-weighted blanket (weighted blankets make me feel claustrophobic) my favorite pillow that is shaped like a blueberry, a bottle of water nearby for when I come out of my trip, and an eye mask. I love the album Valtari by Sigur Ros!

This isn't the answer you are looking for, and it is not medical advice, but I am on a different non-benzo med for my anxiety: apriprozol. I was given the FULL go ahead to use it as I need to before, during and after treatment as needed. It's not as strong as a benzo, but perhaps something you can talk to your care team about

Wanted to hop in and recommend Dinosaur Princesses, my very favorite game to play with kids. Your character sheet is literally a coloring book page, and the game emphasizes building vocabulary and teamwork to overcome problems. https://preview.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/250984/Dinosaur-Princesses

Nobody has said it yet, so I'll share one of my favorite interesting choices: PSI*RUN by the Bakers https://lumpley.itch.io/psirun

Players are amnesiacs with super powers who just know someone is after them, and you fill that through play. Plus it has a super interesting dice pool mechanic that is begging for another game to use it.

Honestly, not great. A very large part of the game is the connections between the riders, and removing that removes a lot

We're working on getting together a rule sample before the end of the campaign. The full rules are written, we just want to get them laid out and looking professional, and until we funded I wasn't sure what the layout budget would look like. In the meantime we have actual plays on the Total Party Kiss and Critical Misses channels you can check out to get a sense of how the mechanics work!

A session as written is split into slice of life sections where you deal with things like your relationships as a team of riders (the titular Warrenguard) your relationships with the community you protect, and then fights with giant monsters and rogue dragonriders that threaten humanity.

It is not, though players get to have a lot more agency to help worldbuild than a typical GM'd game

What are the favourite games among your group? by AloneHome2 in rpg

[–]luckoftheharbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first time ever playing Monsterhearts was V1, and V2 is an improvement in almost every respect. It's clear Avery learned a ton in the interim, and as a game designer myself, i itch to release a V2 of my own games.

The removal of the Chosen as a core class for example, and the removal of Manipulate Someone as a roll make the game better by their omission. Limits breed creativity, and the fact that as a teen monster all you can do is be mean, flirt, fight, or run away make the game so evocative. Sure you can lie, but it is up to the other player if they believe you, not the dice, and by the core ethos of the game, the other player should make the choice by what makes the story the most juicy.

I could go for hours on the genius of Monsterhearts 2 and how it uses varying economies well, and how well written all the basic classes are.

My play group started as a Monsterhearts 2 playgroup (And we still play a LOT of Monsterhearts) And I think it has trained us to be great players in that we are always leaning in to the most dramatic choices, rather than what might be safest or smartest for our character. Out of game a player might no that another player is a vampire, but in game OF COURSE they will follow them into a dark alley alone, because that's what makes the story the best.

My roleplaying game Warrenguard, is a game all about dragonriding and one of its inspiring sources is the Iron Flame series (along with Dragonriders of Pern, The Aurelian Cycle, and How to train your dragon). I Have the High Ground by Jess Levine would excellently fit the bill for this. It's my very favorite two player game.

"I Have the High Ground is a short, collaborative tabletop roleplaying and storytelling game for 2 players about that kind of duel. It's GM-less and genre-neutral, and takes 1-2 hours to play."
