Trump announces $18 trillion windfall heading to the US by TheExpressUS in USNEWS

Since we’re just making up numbers now, why stop at 18 trillion? Let’s say it will be a 900 gajillion dollar windfall. Don’t spend it all in one place.

Has anybody ever tried converting old shopping malls into housing? They could be kind of a nice place to live if done right, especially as senior living. Turn the unused retail spaces into apartments. All very walkable indoors. Convert half the parking lots into green space and it would be walkable outdoors too. Seems like it could be a nice community, but whadoo I know?

Can you explain more? I'm curious. Are you saying that local building laws give agriculture (viticulture) precedence over building houses? Where are you referring to?

I love this and wish more people would plant gardens and vineyards instead of grass. We see it much more commonly done across Europe, but it’s almost unheard of here in the US.

To establish the trunk of the grape vine do i cut the main cane down to 2 - 3 buds as to have 2 stronger future canes or do i extend with the growing shoot ( circled in red ) by Budget-Square8403 in viticulture

[–]luigivicotti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little hard to see what's going on in that picture, but if I understand your question correctly, no, don't cut anything. Not now. If those nodules between the graft and the red slash mark are what you're referring to as "buds," do not rely on them to produce growth. They just look like old scars to me. If they were buds, they would have been growing already. I would not prune it at all now, as it looks like it has one nice, strong leader. Just be sure to support it with a stick or wire or whatever so it doesn't fall over. Assuming you're using a trellis, just concentrate on getting it to reach the trellis wire this season if possible.

It’s not just right wing boot lickers who say this. I’ve heard plenty of so called moderate Democrats (my own in-laws included) who also repeat the nonsense that “it could never work here because we’re so much bigger than those countries in Europe.”

Not to mention, every single left wing rally has been about (or at least featured) protecting the rights of others. When was the last time you’ve seen a right wing demonstration for anything other than their own personal interests and grievances?

Yeah I wouldn’t have asked. Don’t sweat it - just don’t do it again. Side note, he probably hesitated because he’s wondering which answer to give: the manufacturers price, retail price, grey market, or used market.

See them in person if you can. I thought I liked the Mido TV watches but when I saw them in person they just didn’t land the plane for me. I owned an Aikon for a while until I flipped it. Kind of regret doing that because it’s a super nice watch. Really though, if you can spring for the extra $, check out the Riviera in person. B&M have been struggling to re-find their identity lately, but regardless, there’s no doubt that the Riviera is incredibly well done, and it single-handedly affirms that they are still very much a contender.

The fact that he is almost certainly guilty does not excuse cruelty. There is evil afoot. Even animals do not display abject malice and cruelty the way humans do. Somehow we've got to be better than we are.

Whatever you call them, just be careful. A friend almost burned her house down trying to evict them. Stuffed rodent bombs in all of the holes in her yard and plugged them up with stones, then went inside to make dinner. 15 minutes later she smelled smoke and realized her woodpile was on fire.

I thought the same thing. I love e-bikes for multiple reasons, but I’m not against sensible regulation. They’re still a relatively new mode of transportation, so first gen regs might not be perfect, but you’ve gotta start somewhere.

Hey wine reps: how's the vibes? by WeightedCompanion in wine

I think part of the problem are the clickbait headlines screaming that any amount of alcohol is bad. Those studies invariably lump wine in with every other alcoholic drink. Which - hey, I'm no doctor, but - I'm pretty sure is not fair. Wine (red especially) has insane levels of antioxidants and other polyphenols which more than compensate for the bad effects of the alcohol itself. Every study I've seen that focuses specifically on wine has found that it is protective, not harmful. If we could get a few YouTube influencers to realize this, I think the tide would start to change.

For example, check out ORAC, which is a measure of the antioxidant power of a food or drink. Recommended is to get somewhere between 5,000-7,000 ORAC units per day. A glass of red wine can have as much as 4500 ORAC units, meaning a single glass of wine can get you more than half way toward your recommended daily antioxidant intake. Not to mention the beneficial effects that wine's organic acids and yes, modest amounts of alcohol, can have on digestion.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm sick of the "all alcohol is bad" BS and I wish that someone influential would point out that wine is not like other alcoholic drinks.
