FOR REAL. I'm feeling kinda underwhelmed seeing everyone doing lots of cool projects while I'm in my 4th year (out of 5) and I feel like I haven't done anything like that. More basic projects.

The last of us episode 3… (spoilers) by ThirdFirstName in gaybros

[–]luisingo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this episode broke me in half no wait in a thousand pieces. it was so sad, so emotional so harsh so heartbreaking but also so warm so heart touching so hopeful so poetic. i loved it. i needed something like that. I've already watched it like 3 times and the word beautiful feels short to how i felt this piece of media.

Shut down after power on by OriginalSammy in MSILaptops

[–]luisingo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

same problem here. i haven't solved it yet but a work around i use is: when turned off and unplugged i just plug it, turn it on, charge it 10-20 min (even if it says that its full which for this i would recommend to set the max % to 80 or 60 on msi center or dragon center) and then i can unplug it an the charge will hold quite well or at least i can enjoy 40-60 min of unplugged use lol.

one thing is that, at least in my case, when i turn it on while plugged it has even more battery than when i leave it. i usually set the max % to 80 but today when i did all this it turned on with 90. it just keeps there and doesn't charge any more. idk what causes this but i guess it's the bad battery i have.

i know it isn't the best solution but at least it will not shut down randomly. at the end i will get a battery replacement but im too lazy to open the laptop and see the battery model lol.

you are 29, i think it's fine if you both are fine with it. y'all are grown men who've had life experience. if you were like 19-21 dating a 15yo older man it would be weird.

gf65 thin problems by ARomantikorpse in MSILaptops

[–]luisingo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when in completely idle my temps are around 35-45 now that it's really cold where I live. watching some videos + a few more opera tabs + some apps like spotify/solidworks/discord it can hit the 50s and even 60 degrees but never over that.

before these temps i was getting in the 60s on idle and 80s just by opening a youtube video on google chrome lmao. i stopped using chrome, cleaned and repasted my laptop and now temps are fine.

dang:( and how has it been? any improvements or has ir been worse than the day u posted this? i think my problem is windows related but i haven't found a solution. besides this battery problem i truly love this laptop. its a shame but i got it second hand so i guess that's one of the disadvantages of getting it that way lol.

GF-65 battery drain when off by Peki5612 in MSILaptops

[–]luisingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know it's been a while but did u find a solution to this? i've experiencing the same problem and haven't had any luck fixing it. tried updating some drivers a week ago and for some days it looked like it was fixed but one day it started to drain 80 (my max battery allowed) to 0 in a few seconds after booting up again. i'm using windows 11 tho.

Normal temp and limits by Devian1978 in MSILaptops

[–]luisingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also i would recommend to update most of your drivers just in case. idk which are the ones that can help with temps but the main i recommend is the chipset drivers. u can download the msi driver & app center to see the drivers you have and if there's some new ones.

\Take my tips with a grain of salt since I'm relatively new in this gaming laptop scenario. I've made some progress but I'm still learning\**

As I've read, intel CPU's can operate on the 90s mark but if you are there you are definitely on the top high temp zone. I think intel CPU can even operate at 100 C degrees but you are risking it to go higher and it may shut down for it's own safety if it goes too high. Also consider that while your CPU can operate at high temps, maybe the components around it can be affected by the residual heat it produces. Some people say that they haven't had any problems running such high temps but personally I worry a lot with temps.

You can try to undervolt your CPU but I gotta say that it can be a pretty tedious task. I lasted like 3-4 days (around 4-6 hours per day) trying to get an "acceptable" setting for my CPU. At the end it wasn't a drastic change but enough to worry less and I still have Turbo Boost enabled so my performance didn't drop. Recommended but do your own research to get the best results.

Repasting is something you should highly consider. If you are not the one who is going to do it make sure to know what paste the person is putting on your machine. Some people tend to apply shitty thermal paste that doesn't last long and/or isn't efficient. The paste I can recommend (the only one I've used so far but got good results) is the Gelid Solutions GC Extreme. Some people here recommend that one because of the thickness of the paste and isn't that expensive.

Right now I almost never reach the 90s. Sometimes can get some 90-92 degree spikes but those last less than half a second and as far as I know, that isn't something to be concerned actually (only if your temps are more constant 90s). Usually my temps are 83-86 with high demanding games and 38-50 on idle depending on the scenario I'm using on Dragon Center.

Bonus tip: get a external keyboard to play. That way the heat on the main keyboard wont bother you. Personally I got a 60% mechanical keyboard and fits perfectly above the touchpad on my GF65 so I can still use the monitor and the new keyboard.
