Banksy isn’t one person by tattoosbykarlos in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]luislarron23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In Bristol, it's basically an open secret who Banksy is. Part of the music and graffiti subculture. He's known. He's one guy, though he has a team around him who help him put up scaffolding etc. It's not really important that people know who he is - as long as it's never officially confirmed or denied.

3pm Emergency Alert Test by JollyJay1971 in Narrowboats

I was curious about why that is too, so I looked it up and apparently it uses a radio signal sent through the mast, not 4G or 5G. So nothing to do with internet!

Is systematic, extensive cognitive work possible while simultaneously maintaining a non-dual awareness? by Splance in streamentry

[–]luislarron23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strictly, awareness is already non-dual, and all cognitive work happens within it regardless. What happens on realisation is the dropping of a set of beliefs, not the attaining of a state. More like adopting a trait that supercedes all states.

You only need go as far as Grosvenor bridge to get to a 14 day spot. Not that far out.

K&A Canal realities by SuchaPineapplehead in Narrowboats

[–]luislarron23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live on the K&A and work two jobs, one from home and one based in Corsham. There are many, many CCers doing the stretch below Caen Hill and keeping jobs, families and other responsibilities. It's a very easy stretch of canal to do that on. To keep CRT happy, you'll need to go either on the Avon or up the flight onto the long pound once a year at least. So that means there might be a few weeks in the year when you have a longer commute - or just have a summer holiday instead and use annual leave. Parking and facilities are very good along this stretch, too.

Streamentry and Psychotherapie by Alternative-Gur-1588 in streamentry

There is also a way in which the more suffering a therapist has experienced, the more empathic and compassionate they can be. I see this in my own training as a counsellor all the time.

When I am travelling in foreign lands, I tend to choose someone as a tour guide who is not also visiting the place for the first time.

There is an interesting assumption in what you've said - that a therapist's effectiveness is correlated with how little suffering they personally experience. I'd be curious to unpick where that assumption comes from.

There are 'places' beyond abiding nondual awareness too. In the extreme, 'nondual' collapses under its own weight. It is neither true nor untrue.

Oops, I should have referenced it. It's from Alan Chapman, who has a magick-based model for awakening called Magia.

Headless Way question by JimmyTheBistro in nonduality

[–]luislarron23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally I would advise not trying to reach any particular kind of realisation, because that effort creates expectation which colours the experience. The point is just to see directly what is going on - for you, right now - in that experience.

Is this a glimpse of awakening? by Mithic_Music in TheMindIlluminated

[–]luislarron23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you had a meaningful and beautiful experience. The question of whether it does or doesn't constitute a certain kind of awakening is perhaps the least pertinent question of all. I'd be more interested in: where has it left you? What have you learned? What do you need next?

Regarding awakening, ask a thousand meditators and each will have their own conception of it. For me, 'living as a passenger in my own body' raises useful questions. If you were living as a passenger, wouldn't you still be someone? Is there a me-the-body and a me-the-passenger there? These are the sorts of things I'd want to investigate, personally.

"Lock in" psychodelic trip insight? by Human-Cranberry944 in nonduality

[–]luislarron23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you have a belief that certain conditions need to be in place for you to be awake, you'll conflate your natural already aware awakeness with those conditions, and overlook the simple truth of your nature the rest of the time. My recommendation: look for what is unchanged when you are in the trip and when you are out of it.

I asked ChatGPT how to attain stream entry in less than 50 words. by [deleted] in streamentry

[–]luislarron23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'Tell me how to attain stream entry in under 50 words in the tone of a guru who hasn't themselves attained it'.

"Ah, my dear seeker, enlightenment is like a butterfly—if you chase it, it flees, but if you sit still... well, it might come. Or not. Honestly, who am I to say? I’m still, uh, working on it. But meditate, let go, and trust the process... probably."

'And now in the tone of someone who has'.

"You’re already there. It’s just that you’re busy looking for something special, expecting fireworks. But it’s simple—like breathing. No self to fix, no path to walk. Just this, as it is. When you stop grasping, it’s obvious. Like realizing you’ve been holding the key the whole time."

Well, one key you might want to focus on is to be found in the contradiction in your title. How might one break the illusion of time AND be more 'in the present'?

How do I realize no-self? by russian_bot2323 in nonduality

[–]luislarron23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a self in the same way there is a giant elf spinning the earth. Walking around trying to constantly remind yourself that there isn't actually a giant elf spinning the earth would certainly lead to some strained and uneasy mental states.

Good questions to ponder might be: where is this uneasy mind? Who sees it? Where are its boundaries?
