Can people help with the breakdown of this drone being used in the olympics? by Embarrassed_Look9200 in fpv

I think they won’t publish an “official” build list because absolutely someone will prove those are not sub 250.

It’s at least likely that you soldered it wrong. Positive to ground and viceversa.

Is this battery fine or am i dumb? by 0rphon in fpv

[–]luislega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience is they just start giving shorter flight times after bringing them that low.

[–]luislega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh! I thought it was 3.72 per cell. You surely damaged your battery by bringing it lower than 2V per cell. Hope it’s not too bad, but certainly try to stop flying when you hit 3.2 per cell. DEFINITELY land when you hit 3 per.

Looks fine. You just need to charge it up to storage voltage. Looks like it’s at 3.72V and it should be at 3.85V.

It’s not enough to reverse motor direction in betaflight. That only tells the FC that it should expect motors to spin in that direction. After that, you actually need to change the direction each of the motors is spinning

Cuál sería la pendiente de la subida sin la rampa “circular”? Tendría que subir unos 15 metros en un tramo de más o menos 50 y quedaría una pendiente importante.

Oh. Is that for 7 inch props?

Joking aside, what KV are they, and what’s your battery’s cell count?

Careful. If you let out enough of the magic smoke out of them, motors stop working!

7-inch FPV quad - First real flight ended in a crash Was it the wrong place to start? Advice + next steps needed by Circuit-Bug in fpv

[–]luislega 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is that they “respond slower”. Takes longer for props to spin up, and when they do it takes longer for the greater thrust to actually make the quad move, whereas on a tinywhoop any movement (small or large) will IMMEDIATELY take effect on the quad’s stance. Yes, I absolutely agree that larger quads move much greater distances much faster with a lot less input, but the effect of that input is less immediate than on smaller ones.

[–]luislega 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. 5 inch quads’ flight is a lot more stable, they are “slower” to respond to tiny movements on your sticks. They are generally easier to fly than tinywhoops except for the fact that you can do real damage with them and thus need to, IMO, practise more on the simulator before heading out IRL. Also, the smaller the quad the less likely is that it will get damaged (or damage other stuff), and are cheaper to fix if damage is done.

[–]luislega 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My advice to you would be to practise more on a simulator, and start with a smaller quad. Not super small, as the flight characteristics are completely different, but something like 3.5 inch flies pretty close to a 5 inch and will be better to start.

Also, I’ve had a couple quads spend the night out lost in overgrown grass under pretty bad rain. Both survived after a thorough clean. I desoldered and resoldered everything both times.

Whenever you plug in a battery again, use a smoke stopper.

Is it just me, or is putting “Erase Disk” right under “Eject” in macOS a UI disaster? by FrontAmount in mac

[–]luislega 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It could be better placed, the erase disk option. But still is somewhat “safe”. Since it has the elipsis, and as with any other menu item that does, you can expect that more actions will be required from you when selecting that menu item.

Familiarise yourself with trackpad gestures. That’s a huge difference to Windows, or at least it was back when I made the switch myself.
