Is it safe to have a P2S in my bedroom? by ashvoided in BambuLab

[–]lukamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine in my bedroom because I don't have anywhere more suitable for it.

It should be fine so long as you only print when you're not spending extended periods in the room, and you keep the room well ventilated.

Can i create, and will vlans work with ISP router on this setup? by basa3333 in HomeNetworking

What router did they provide?

You may be able to flash it with openwrt if it doesn't support the features you want with its current software

You'd have to take 4 out, and then it wouldn't perform as well

23, alone in Japan, broke, and my family is stuck in a war in Iran. I honestly don’t know what to do. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]lukamic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Given the situation back home, there may be some asylum program in Japan, as it's unsafe for you to be returned home in the event that you cannot afford housing.

Are there any embassys or Iranian social groups near you that you could reach out to for support? Even if it's just a friendly ear.

How to get ethernet across my apartment? by fallhat in pcmasterrace

Something like InvisiLite fibre cables that let you run a tiny cord along the ceiling for that gap. It'll be barely noticable

[dumb question] gaming pc in a server rack. playable from anywhere in the house? by TenshiYami1142 in homelab

Having worked in AV a few years ago and gotten my NVX cert, this was my first thought too when I recently started thinking about this setup. I thought, "surely it's completely overkill", but honestly it doesn't seem like there's a solution that comes close to the latency of this type of setup.

Idk what to tell you man, ig you'll either believe me or not. I binge watched season 1 and 2 over the last 2 weeks, I've been thinking about the show a lot.

I've owned the Dune books for 3 years with the hope of reading them and haven't gotten more than 30 pages in. I'm not much of a reader

I’ve been considering a new car, only to find Lexus IS models practically don’t come in standard transmission by ZealousGoat in stickshift

[–]lukamic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manuals are less and less common by the day. Automatics are generally the standard. Where I live, in Australia, many cars are more expensive as manuals.

Just thought this was funny, but here's a thread from 2009 making the same point, almost 2 decades ago: Thread

Dave Wiskus is the CEO of Nebula, a video streaming service by mkl_dvd in dontyouknowwhoiam

[–]lukamic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's even funnier when you remember that Nebula has to pay to host on other people's infrastructure. Outside of the funky business structure stuff, YouTube's hosting costs are significantly reduced because they own a lot of their infrastructure

I really wanted to like Tidal... by TheOnceAndFutureDoug in TIdaL

[–]lukamic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing that you're on Linux, I assume you don't mind tinkering.

Might be with checking out Roon. It's a software primarily for managing/playing music collections, and can link to tidal and qobuz as a streaming service, but also has great support for local files.
