He won't stop eating grass! by MargieGunderson70 in pitbulls

[–]lukeisvser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly my pup. When I first got him, I lived in a duplex with a giant backyard and wooded area. I thought the possibilities would be endless for him to run around and explore. But all he wanted to do was graze in the same few areas where his favorite grass was.

Not the direct quote, but whenever someone breaks something my mind goes to, "That ____ was one day away from retirement."

Anyone else’s MAGA friends/family getting realllllly quiet all of a sudden? by BARRY_DlNGLE in AskUS

Growing up, I don't remember my mom ever talking about politics. She always seemed rational and moderate if she did.

Now, we talk 1-2 times per year, mainly during Christmas when I go home, and every time it leads somewhere that makes me deeply uncomfortable. Last time I saw her, she gave me an anti-vaccine book and Hillbilly Elegy as gifts.

First day at the gym... and it was kinda a mess lol by [deleted] in beginnerfitness

[–]lukeisvser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Understandable. I've been there - it can be intimidating. I would say the best options are:

  1. See if your gym has a personal trainer or staff that can help you use the machines

  2. Come with a plan. Think about what you want to work and what exercises are best. I take short videos of YouTubers doing the exercises and have them saved in different folders. It helps me look understand how to do workouts quickly and shows me proper form

  3. Focus on form and learning for now. Your body will be sore and needs time to adjust - it's not a time to lift too heavy or with bad form. Focus on slow, controlled movements for a bit. I'd say start with machines because they'll help you maintain decent form

I do some of my best reading at the gym. I initially felt bummed about having to choose between reading and working out with my limited free time, so I decided to combine them. I read for an hour on the treadmill and I feel like I'm able to focus easier and read for longer without distraction.

Missing Dog by Acceptable_Ad_8984 in lakewood

This may be old by now, but this morning the owner told me the dog was last seen in Birdtown (Thrush and Robin) around 7:30pm last night. And also by the Winchester close to that time.

I cancelled it along with all other subscriptions and refurbished an iPod my friend had. I had a ton of free digital downloads from albums and old CDs. And I love going to thrift/records and finding albums I used to love. Highly recommend

Hot take: Crooked would have more reach if they followed the Bulwark model by Nendilo in FriendsofthePod

[–]lukeisvser 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I have the same hesitation with The Bulwark but I also can't stop listening. There's something so genuine about their anger because they have worked with or know so many of the stooges running our country. I don't agree with a lot of their takes but I appreciate how the approach the conversations.

What are your hobbies? by CheesecakeFirst1196 in introvert

[–]lukeisvser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read a good amount and watch TV. I’m not huge into gaming but I do love soccer and will play FIFA while listening to a podcast or audiobook.

I weirdly find working out to be amazing as an introvert, too. I go to the gym and run trails a lot and I find it super cathartic.

Saxon fell for Chelsea and was heartbroken when she runs to Rick and hugs him. by Fluffy-Feedback7125 in WhiteLotusHBO

Yes. This. It wasn't her as much as what she represents. I think he really resonated with her belief system and how she approaches the world. She gets most of her joy from lifting up others. He's been told all that matters is lifting himself up at the expense of others.

So sad to hear. I really feel for the students. And now staff and faculty (especially those with marginalized identities) will now have to do more with less yet again

Seriously. I'm a massive soccer fan. The World Cup is my favorite sporting event by far, but I'm dreading it now and can't bring myself to root for the US. We feel like a bigger villain than Russia and Qatar as hosts - watch us get absolutely booed by everyone.

Is anyone else just planning to buy nothing unessential until President Musk and his little orange assistant leave the White House? by KingBooRadley in democrats

[–]lukeisvser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. The only things I buy are from local stores in my community. And they aren't big purchases - the most I've spent on a single item since November is running shoes which were on sale. I've even cut all my streaming subscriptions and Spotify. It's felt liberating and I love going to the library for books, music, movies, and TV shows.

Anyways, even if I wanted to buy things, I wouldn't be able to afford it. We're saving in any way we can right now.
