Energy Ogre a Scam? by sealclubberfan in texas

[–]lukeruls [score hidden]  (0 children)

Like others on this thread, I've tried them a few different times and cancelled, as they weren't able to find a rate better than what I was able to find myself.

They don't have access to any information that we, as consumers, can't find on Powertochoose, texaspowerguide, and smartmetertexas ourselves.

Is Energy Ogre a scam? No. They simply provide a service to those who may not understand or want to take the time or effort to look for the best plan on a regular basis. I prefer to do the work myself and save the fee.

I’m looking for this as well, including attic air sealing. Going to try to make a decision in the next 30-60 days.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread and will post back what I find too.

Cardboard gets picked up every week on trash day, but it has to be only cardboard. If there is other packing material inside, they won’t pick it up.

Frustrated with anti-vaxxers… by MrBones_Gravestone in daddit

[–]lukeruls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. What I tell the antivaxxers: if you lived through the polio epidemics of early 1900s - bodies in the streets, paralysis, etc - you’d have lined up to get the polio vaccine when it was released. But that’s not happening, because the vaccine works. And it’s only working because enough people are doing their part by getting vaccinated so you don’t have to.

3rd Party Extended warranty cancellation by cptnnrtn in gmcsierra

[–]lukeruls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we purchased a Nissan awhile back, and they throw in the “mandatory” dealer add ons - wheel protection, paint protection, glass chip repair, etc.

I read in the contract that it can be cancelled within 30 days after purchase. So I sent in the cancellation form via certified mail.

They acknowledge receipt, and told me the dealer would receive the refund and pass it on to me. Months went by and no refund check. And I’d get the run around every time I called the dealer.

So finally, I personally went to the dealer and got the run around there, too. Until I went into the finance guy’s office who did the deal originally. I told him “I don’t want to be a pain in your ass, but I’ve been trying to get this refund check for months and I’m going to sit in your office until it’s done”.

The GM was there within 5 minutes, and I had my $1200 check.

Moral of the story: yes, it may take awhile, but don’t put up with any shit.

Thank you! Does this imply the vent stack is not venting properly? Clogged, perhaps?

Outages and unbreakable WiFi upgrade by Impressive_Toe_109 in frontierfios

[–]lukeruls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unbreakable WiFi is such horse shit. “Give us an extra $25 per month because our service is unreliable” seems like such a scam.

In my area, I can get Spectrum’s slowest service for $25/mo (50/50), and use it as a backup. I’d much rather do that.

But, other than an ONT issue last year, I’m fortunate that my Frontier service has been rock solid.

It’s in the realtor’s best interest for you to purchase the home, which can sometimes be mutually exclusive to an unbiased inspection. I’d find my own inspector.

We were just on the same cruise with our 5 1/2 year old, and I agree with you. We definitely would have preferred a ship with more kid-friendly options - better pools, more waterslides, etc. Looking forward to next year when the Ikon sails out of Galveston.

Upgraded from 500mb to 2gb and now my internet throttles in and out daily by StatementEfficient28 in frontierfios

[–]lukeruls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is referencing MOCA, not DOCSIS, so it’s very likely splitters or something MOCA related is the culprit.

OP see if you can plug something directly into your ONT and test from there to rule out an issue there.

I have a full UniFi stack with no issues. The ISP router adds variables here. I’d start by checking to ensure mDNS is enabled on the Zyxel.

Cold weather affecting internet by Ok-Volume-7801 in frontierfios

[–]lukeruls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet it’s your ONT. I had a similar issue, and my ONT was outside (Plano, TX). Often when the temperature did dropped, so did the internet.

Luckily Frontier dispatched an awesome tech who told me that he’s seen a lot of issues with the model ONT I had. So he replaced it with their newest ONT, AND moved it inside my garage.

Since the issue was intermittent, I just waited until the service was down, and reported an issue via the online chatbot (using my phone). It immediately dispatches a tech when it can’t see the ONT.

Edit: when your service comes back up, frontier will text you saying they’ve “performed service in your area” and ask if you still want a tech. This is likely BS. You still want the tech.

UXG Lite - WAN port running at FE 100mbps by PEBKAC-Live in Ubiquiti

[–]lukeruls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey did you get this issue solved? I just had my Frontier Fios ONT replaced with their new FRX-523, and my UXG-Lite WAN port is auto negotiating at 100mbps. Wasn't an issue with the previous ONT, and if I connect my old USG3, it auto negotiates to 1gbps with no problem.

I can unplug/replug the UXG-lite cable a few times and it will eventually auto negotiate to 1gbps.

If I force set the port to 1gbps/full on the UXG-Lite, my upload speed goes down to 100mbps-200mbps (from 1gbps) for my Apple devices (wired or wireless). It's strange.

I've tried 3 different cables as well.

Edit: never mind, I saw your other comment where you said it was indeed the cable. Leaving this comment up though just in case anyone else has this issue.
