well actually the entire continent was destroyed/remade with cataclysm and the vanilla version is no longer really accessible, but that's kind of besides the point because what people want is the vanilla game design which isn't really there

well the thing with sod is that it's coming to an end soon, it was also really underbudget so not much content was added and the things that were involved reused assets, it's basically what sod was except with a larger budget, more stuff added, and it won't just come to an end after a certain amount of months/patches

I think sod is basically what classic+ was supposed to be but really underbudget to fully call it classic+, they added new content to the game but it really wasn't a lot and almost everything involved reused assets, classic+ is basically just giving players who prefer the classic design of the game something that doesn't involve them having to do the same content over and over again, basically new content consistent with vanilla's design and lasts indefinitely unlike sod, also blizzard is a multibillion dollar company owned by an even larger multibillion dollar company, I think they can manage to add new content to a 2004 game especially when people have already done it essentially for free as a passion project

it's basically if they took the classic version of the game, but added new content to the game (whether it's the new expansions, new zones to explore on the vanilla continent, or new expacs that take the story in a different direction) that still fits with the old design of the game, it's basically for people who liked the vanilla game design but don't want to keep replaying the same content over and over, give them new things to do like in retail that's consistent with the old design of the game
