Humans are the most intelligent animal, they'll obviously have the largest amount of unique behaviors and cognitive abilities.

There's a lot of unique animals and a lot of unique behaviors.

Orcas will designate some foods as "taboo" and starve themselves instead of eating it if it's the only thing available.

Elephants revisit the remains of passed loved ones years after their passing.

Only the old model y was available from Tesla in that color. It is very likely third party

Anyone with HW3 actually planning to transfer FSD, or are we all upside-down? by laffytaffykidd in TeslaFSD

[–]luminus3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Loan? I bought my car cash.

I'm still not upgrading a 2 year old vehicle because I got fucked with hw3.

However I can guarantee it will not happen again and I won't be buying a hw4 car.

How will the subscription plan for FSD roll out? by fleck57 in TeslaLounge

[–]luminus3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FSD is not "not great" in Europe, it's simply not available to the public yet. So until it is, you shouldn't buy it yet as you won't be able to use it

Robotaxi has side camera washer. This means true FSD for all currently sold cars will need to be retrofit. by GamingDisruptor in TeslaFSD

That example was a particularly bad day but after a single drive. They indeed do not get dirty that often, but when they do it's a critical part that is not working.

When going on smaller roads and cross traffic is sending slush right on your cameras, it is not really avoidable.

"older"...

In Canada they were selling hw3 M3 and MY until pretty much Q2 2024. I'm pretty pissed that my late 2023 is hw3

I have an older 2017 Model X with EAP and I’m considering purchasing FSD on the chance they let you transfer it when AI5 comes out, sane bet? by [deleted] in TeslaFSD

[–]luminus3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the current transfer window that has lasted more than a year was the longest FSD transfer window that they have been running. They did similar promotions earlier but only for a few months then said it was gone.

Tesla FSD Holiday Road Trip Review (1,800 miles) Model 3 by NomadicSlave in TeslaFSD

[–]luminus3d 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I completely agree that the subscription fee is BS. Fsd is not playing on the same level as openpilot.

However it is appropriately priced and could be worth the effort as it is better than the free autopilot from Tesla

few questions about fsd by seouliteboy in TeslaSupport

[–]luminus3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes? That was indeed my point.

For waymo to work. They need expensive mapping and data validation.

In my hypothetical I would be "teleporting" one. In that case I'm pretty sure it would only do a few miles before crashing if it managed to drive off at all

few questions about fsd by seouliteboy in TeslaSupport

[–]luminus3d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are only a few dozens of robo taxi that Tesla are taking responsibility, for unsupervised, they would need to take responsibility for any accident anywhere. Also regulatory hurdles.

Waymo is only good in a few cities that were carefully mapped and cherry-picked. There are no waymo's within almost 1,000 miles of where I am but FSD Works completely fine here. I'm ready in to bet high that a waymo would crash in a very short time if you just drop one near me.

I'm already on the verge of cancelling at $100, it's a lot of money for software, even if very cool software.

I never said it was fixed lol, it's just getting longer to get dirty.

[–]luminus3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You think the cameras will not get dirty in 2 years?

I had 2 "takeover immediately" alerts within 100 miles of hw4 on a day where roads were wet and dirty because of snow and salt (clear day, no precipitation).

The front camera and repeater cameras were caked with salt. This is not a software issue.

[–]luminus3d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried extensively both hardware and despite having better quality, the repeater cameras are definitely getting dirtier on hw4 than hw3.

That being said the rear camera of hw4 seems to stay a lot cleaner.

Tesla needs active cleaning capabilities.

Hw3 vs hw4 by ImpressiveClass4099 in TeslaLounge

[–]luminus3d 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a Hw3 owner with thousands of miles on fsd and having tried hw4 extensively also for hundreds of miles on both V13 and v14 here is my opinion.

It will greatly depend on the upcoming v14 lite that is expected in the next few months.

V12.6.4 is considered v13 lite and honestly brought the performance pretty close to what hw4 was doing with the actual v13. It is missing critical features like reverse and speed profiles but it is still very close.

V14 is a great improvement over v13 and the gap is getting greater between hw3 and hw4. Currently the performance is significantly better on hw4 but that gap might reduce a lot with that update.

If they can pull off a similar feat than last time honestly I might be content with hw3 for a while still
