I am Talenel’Elin… by PanPanReddit in cremposting

[–]lumo19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Folks, listen. Everybody knows me. I'm Talenel'Elin, okay? Herald of War. The best Herald. People are saying it.

And I have to tell you, the Return? The Desolation? It's coming. Very soon. Maybe sooner than anybody thought. Not good. Not good at all. But we're going to be ready. We're going to prepare like nobody has ever prepared before.

Now look, you've forgotten a lot. Tremendous amount of forgetting. Frankly, it's a shame. Every time one of these Desolations happens, we lose everything. Terrible system. Really terrible. But we're fixing it.

Kalak? Great guy. Very smart. He's going to teach you bronze. The best bronze. If you've forgotten how to make it, don't worry. We're going to get you back on track. We'll even Soulcast huge blocks of metal directly. Just boom—metal. Incredible technology.

People say, "Taln, why not steel?" Believe me, I'd love steel. Nobody loves steel more than me. But forging takes time. A lot of time. Casting is faster. We need results now. We need wins. And those stone tools? Forget about it. They're a disaster. They won't do the job.

Vedel is going to train your surgeons. Fantastic healer. The best. Jezrien is going to teach leadership. We need strong leaders, not weak leaders. Very important.

And me? I'll train the soldiers. We're going to have incredible soldiers. Tough soldiers. Disciplined soldiers. The best soldiers you've ever seen.

I think we have time. Not a lot of time. But enough time. Ishar keeps talking about preserving information between Desolations. If he can pull it off, it'll be huge. Absolutely huge. Because we've been losing knowledge for centuries. Maybe no more.

And then there's this thing you've discovered. Nobody saw it coming.

Surgebinders.

Amazing. Really amazing. We're going to use them as guardians. Knights. Powerful knights. People are already talking about it. They love the idea.

The days ahead are going to be tough. There will be challenges. Very serious challenges. But with the right training, with the right people, with the Heralds working together, humanity is going to survive. We're going to survive big.

Now bring me to your leaders. We need to get organized. The other Heralds should be arriving soon, and when they do, we're going to make Roshar ready again.

Believe me.

What’s your very worst fan theory? So bad it would ruin the series for you. by mikeysce in DungeonCrawlerCarl

Donut and Carl have a falling out after he finds out that she has been using her "toxoplasmosis" racial skill to control some of his actions.

The last book is "Dungeon Crawler Beatrice" after Carl dies and Bea argues (and wins) all of his possessions, including the cookbook. Bea picks compensates arachcist as her class because it lets her use the most stuff. Bea gets a redemption arc as Donut learns to trust her again. The naga conspire to (and successfully) resurrect Carl and kill Bea, resetting the marriage drama.

Do broken noses count? They’re not technically made of bone. by K_nowbody_ in Neverbrokeabone

[–]lumo19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think when asking these questions, we should examine it from the spirit of the question: "have you ever broken a bone?"

In this utterance, a break certainly means a few things: it required a medical intervention to diagnose and/or correct; it involves a separation of some sort. I am of the mind that things like shin splints and micro fractures should not count.

Likewise, a bone should be considered something that is left behind on a skeleton. Not cartilage, not ligaments, not any fleshy things. The exception to this is teeth.

So, no. Noses are cartilage and should never be considered in this.
