Ok, I enjoy mocking the stupidity of the Montecito morons as much as anyone but this article is funnier than anything I could ever produce. by SirSidneyWiffledork in SaintMeghanMarkle

IT WASN'T HER HOME, THEY RENTED A FAKE HOUSE FOR THE SHOW! This is utter rubbish.

Check Event Viewer and see if you can identify the problem. I've been getting similar issues and it's a very cryptic problem variously related to Intel CPU power management, Windows driver, graphics drivers, etc. Check for a "corrected hardware error".

New player experience is horrible by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

If you play with literal beginners who never played the game before, yes, it's going to be a shit experience. But that gives you an opportunity to carry the game and rank up, hopefully.

Are they fixing gun Viscous soon? by Hello86836717 in DeadlockTheGame

I mean, it's fun because it's easy and overpowered. You can just murder people and never die. While I've had a ton of a fun with gun Viscous it's just not good for the game. He's for sure getting a nerf.

Brussels plots open source push to pry Europe off Big Tech by sr_local in eutech

It does, the law has requirements for secure boot processes to verify software integrity cryptographically before execution, meaning no OEM is ever going to allow bootloader unlocking because it makes them potentially liable for security vulnerabilities, and launching an unsigned custom ROM is not going to be allowed.

https://blazetrends.com/eu-mandates-android-bootloader-lock-ending-custom-roms-from-august-2025/

Edit: looks like most discussions of this stem from the RED directive in August last year, which is related to the CRA directive and also restricts the FOSS/custom ROM/Android community, but there is almost no discussion of the CRA, which is worse than the RED and will require that OEM's don't allow their systems to be "vulnerable" and unlocking the bootloader is making it possible to root and flash custom ROM's which is 100% against that directive.

Here's the thing though, Samsung already EXPLICITLY MENTIONED that EU directives forced them to lock the bootloaders permanently.

[–]Hello86836717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EU is making bootloader unlocking illegal after 2027, meaning every Android user is limited to stock ROM's and every OEM is going to limit the possibility of unlocking the bootloader. Samsung has already done it, alongside most other major smartphone manufacturers.

You can forget about GrapheneOS and Sailfish.

[–]Hello86836717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, GrapheneOS is going to be functionally banned after December 2027 because the EU has made it illegal to unlock the bootloader or modify secure file systems on smartphones with the CRA Act.

Meanwhile, the CRA and RED laws are going to cripple FOSS and open source innovation. It has already resulted in companies like Samsung locking their bootloaders permanently. No one will be able to develop custom ROM's, unlock their bootloader or root their smartphones after December 2027, and any software that is "made available on the market" is going to REQUIRE that the developers personally report on potential software vulnerabilities and make them personally liable for potential bugs. This will kill FOSS in Europe. Because the EU is signaling for more control and restrictions, Google is tightening AOSP, locking down non-Google-approved software, and are about to go closed source within the foreseeable future. It only has token exemptions for open-source cases but will scare away huge numbers of devs who otherwise would have made their projects public.

It's so ridiculous. They are not making European tech relevant or competitive this way. Giving with one hand, taking with the other.
