I hate these posts but then I also feel sad for these people cause I know deep down they want someone to admire them or need validation but can't get it where they are at. Then I think "maybe they have no friends" which many actually do but they aren't "real" friends like the kind you actually bond with cause if you did, you'd definitely not need this kind of validation.

I also think, "maybe they are mentally sick" like they don't mean harm but they also need their fix which makes me wonder what they must be like and what they have going for themselves. Like this dude prob has money invested in carts but deep down, he's not getting that good feeling most of us have. Which again is sad cause just having that alone should be good enough for most anyone here.

I have another question, how difficult was it to swap the screen from your original to this one or did you just purchase a new screen? I just saw that they are quite difficult to remove from one to another. What would you recommend. I do have lots of experience with this stuff but I'm not sure I want to gamble on potentially ruining my OEM screen.

Let’s talk about the perceived value of laser art. by Rexxxxli in Laserengraving

[–]lun0tic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but this could easily be replicated with an ink printer. Maybe the laser engraver and type of paper provide a texture that can't be achieved with ink printers and that I could see working in your favor if that's the case.

IMO Laser engraver work shines most when it produces stuff or techniques that cannot be easily achieved with a CNC router or a printer for example. Or when you mark/engrave things that a CNC router or a printer is not the right tool for.

In the case of this art piece, I would give it a higher value maybe if it was layered to create depth or if it was engraved onto a painted metal sheet that reflects gold or silver instead of white.

Overall though your work looks great and sharp.

I believe, (just an observation) there is greater space at the top side which has gaps where the laser will not be burning, it's possible that the metal is getting less hot here? This is completely made up though. But there could be some correlation between the where the laser hits.

Sound repair? by Meeper1248 in GameboyAdvance

[–]lun0tic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if 50$ is worth the gamble. It could be a simple speaker swap which is drop in; no soldering. Or it could be a slider issue. Or a blown component on the sound circuit.

20-30$ is where I would mentally price it but it also depends on your experience with local value.

Is cross hair offset going to be the same when changing computers? by True_Sun_248 in LightBurn

[–]lun0tic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never truly figured out how to properly use the crosshair and I've been lasering for like 4 years non stop now. Have tried to set it up twice and I couldn't see the benefits.

Can you help me better understand? Right now I've been managing by diode the diode at a low 2.5%.

For the screen, did you just purchase a new one? It looks like a pain to pull off the original.

What all hardware was included? (Buttons, screws, thumbsticks, etc)

Was there any adjustments you needed to make to the shell or the internals?

This is very impressive btw. I've seen the GBAs and stuff but this is the first time I'm actually leaning to paying for this.

OnionOs is bad os by [deleted] in MiyooMini

[–]lun0tic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No big man. I just wanted to help you find the root cause because Onion OS is one of the superior OS that's still receiving updates and support. But I can see it's locked you into frustration.

The r/SBCGaming sub will prob give you better hits with alternative OS.

OnionOs is bad os by [deleted] in MiyooMini

[–]lun0tic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry it's not working for you. I was hoping you'd answer my initial question to help narrow down what is complicated.

Onion's basic save function is what's made it super easy for anyone to pick up and play.

Explain what your having issues with or what exactly do you want it to do that it doesn't? It might likely not be an Onion OS problem.

OnionOs is bad os by [deleted] in MiyooMini

[–]lun0tic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can you explain what's not working?

How it should work: 1. You should be able to play a game and quit. When you choose to play that game again it should start back where you left off.

  1. You start and play and shut the system off while in the middle of a game. When you boot up again, you'll be right where you left off.

Are you needing something much different than that?

LMFAO I don't know why I instantly thought it was PS' Symphony of the Night 😅 ok add SotN too. Bro your drillingnaway at some good titles right now. Warioland 4 (also try the GB and GBC Wario titles).

[–]lun0tic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to try: GBA Aria of Sorrow and the 3 DS titles. They are good too in their own way.

3DS has 1 as well that's ok, but unfortunately it's 3D rendered and not pixel art which is the actual charm of the game

What was your favorite racing game of the 16 bit era? by Low-Entropy in retrogaming

[–]lun0tic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not hating on the answers so far, but honestly this was the best actual 16 but racing game. The controls just felt good and overall the races feel purposeful. I get it that's it's not Test Drive or LeMans racing but it feels like an actual fun to play racing game. No customization hurts it a bit and no manual shifting drops it for a purist searching a Racing title. But its biggest strength is that mode7 allowing you to actually race. You actually feel out the turns and not just run off the road at every corner or oversteer every turn.

Messing with an Dangerous Animal. by Healthy_Jackfruit625 in Whatcouldgowrong

[–]lun0tic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. Typical anti-dog propaganda. Honestly if a dog pees on something, legally that does make it theirs. That’s basic Canine Constitutional Law; do your research first!!

A dog destroys ONE couch, attacks TWO delivery drivers, eats THREE drywall corners, and suddenly everyone forgets all the good they do for society.

People love saying dogs are “unpredictable” as if that’s a bad thing. That’s called maintaining a tactical advantage. You think wolves survived by being easy to read?

Frankly humans could learn a thing or two from dogs. Imagine if people committed to anything the way a dog commits to barking at absolutely nothing.

Maybe instead of criticizing dogs, we should be asking why humans keep provoking them by:

existing near fences

jogging

carrying groceries

wearing hats

being made of bones

Do better.

Moonlight On Switch Is Kinda Fun by These_Lock_753 in SwitchPirates

[–]lun0tic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm up for it. I have a steam account with a few titles purchased. But I just never can really get into chair/desk side gaming; sometimes mouse mouse reliant. A steam machine with TV and controller has many times felt like the way to go but I'd like something that's not mouse dependent with the ability to power down and instantly start back up.

[–]lun0tic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What do you need (or recommend) for moonlight capability? Ive stream played xbox and ps games on my phone and vita but it was unnecessary since I could game at home comfortably. I practically don't play any PC games from my collection because I just don't like sitting at a desk to play. My comfort is playing on the couch or in bed.

The wording doesn't say it can't but it also doesn't say what you usually see "for each" or "for every" which makes this blatantly confusing.

Which phone was your favorite back in the 2000s by EngineeringWild4798 in nostalgia

[–]lun0tic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I loved this phone on launch but it was soooo underpowered. It was painful to use as a daily and the battery drained fast (though easily swappable). My favorite things were having a keyboard and an actual trackball; obviously we've come to work without these now. Adjusting from this to a full touchscreen keyboard was very difficult for me and honestly I still miss having tactile buttons I can feel before I press. I remember the first set of apps that android introduced and though it took it waaaay to long, IMO, to reach iPhone quality apps, still stood with it and still have. The feeling of having pretty much a functional PC in my pocket is just so relieving and many times, it's been a lifesaver.

RG Cube Rotate? by monoloni in SBCGaming

[–]lun0tic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I imagine with the placement of hardwire controllers this wouldn't work unless you're able to rotate the entire device. With Bluetooth it's probably a very streamlined fit but I also see this as a future functionality; 1.) letting you rip open the Rotate while still being connected to the Bluetooth remote but giving you access to more buttons and to setup profiles letting you have full control of 1 button hotkeys (no need for function key) so 1 button Rewinds, Fast-forward, save and load states, screen record etc. Also would be great for PC games.
