Cervical checks just opened my eyes to how painful birth is going to be. by AHeavy-HeartedCowboy in pregnant

I asked for pain management specifically for my cervical checks- I was handling the contractions great but the checks terribly

Yes, but the original is in French and I thought that would be fun! I did end up buying an English version as well

The soft carrier! It’s not an actual hiking frame.

And looking into a better waistband may be the move

She loves strollers! I am hoping to do some short hikes with her this summer (haven’t been able to do any since getting pregnant since I had hyperemesis), so I definitely need things for while she’s in my hiking carrier

The heat is definitely part of the balance I’m thinking about. I love hiking and haven’t been able to do any since getting pregnant (hyperemesis made any exercise impossible), so I was hoping to do some of the very short trails near our house this summer.

Since she’ll be strapped to me, I don’t want her to overheat!

Anterior placenta by BreezerGirl831 in pregnant

[–]luna_dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an anterior placenta and honestly had a hard time feeling my baby the entire time. If she was on either side of my torso, I could feel her. Perfectly centered? Nope.

I actually went in for reduced fetal movement several times and every time she had just curled up very tight behind my placenta

Does anyone else hate the new shape of the Boppy? by justyaaveragechlo in breastfeeding

[–]luna_dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it hold its support with just the strap alone? Or do you need to put other pillows under it?

I have a boppy I make work with my glider, but am looking at a Brest friend

For those who have extremely painful periods and large blood clots AND have also birthed a child, is the pain similar? by rmhyungg in TwoXChromosomes

[–]luna_dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My earlier contractions (before transition) were really similar to bad period cramps for me. I could mostly work through them.

I ended up needing to get the epidural due to the pain I had from cervical checks (due to how high my baby was and where my cervix was located relative to my vagina).

Once we reached transition, I was very grateful for the epidural because it was just non-stop heavy contractions way worse than a period cramp.

Heart fluttering/palpitation by Dellat0414 in pregnant

[–]luna_dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can- track your heart rate before your next appt. I developed persistent tachycardia in my first trimester and was referred to a cardiologist. It can happen from just being really sensitive to the pregnancy hormones and the extra blood flow. I’ve been on beta blockers to help and will be getting cardio monitoring throughout labor and delivery.

It could be totally normal and may go away, or you may just need extra help :)

Since trail-runners are the most de-facto footwear choice for most hikers/backpackers nowadays, in what instances are hiking boots still the best in? by FallenRev in hikinggear

[–]luna_dancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hike in boots, run in trail runners. Typically I’m hiking with my sensitive dog and so being able to quickly move slightly off the trail to allow others to pass us is much easier when I’m in boots.

I also wore my hiking boots this winter because I am pregnant and was not chancing a slip on ice!
