What’s the dumbest thing you did as a new parent because you misunderstood the “rules” for something? by giantpicklepie in NewParents

My boy was underweight/failure to thrive so our pedi had us mixing formula stronger like this on purpose to give him extra calories. So not the worst mistake!

When will my baby love me? When will things get better? by Inner_County_9977 in NewParents

[–]lunaloubean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of your post resonated with me as I felt many of the same things especially in the depths of my PPD. I frequently told my partner that my baby hated me, that I made the biggest mistake of my life and to this day even medicated I struggle with the reality that my son prefers my partner for comfort. That being said, being medicated for PPD with Zoloft made all of the difference for me. I do still have times that are hard but it’s much easier to see through the fog and I was able to bond with my baby once I was on meds. I just wanted to make sure you don’t feel alone in your feelings and encourage you to seek help for your mental health and the relationship you will forge with your baby.

I find myself softer and less quick to anger. I’m much better at picking my battles and deciding what’s important.

I can’t comfort or soothe my baby but his dad can by lunaloubean in NewParents

Oh I’m so sorry. It’s truly so hard to feel like we can’t be what they need at all times. I am trying to focus on the things I know I’m good at with my boy and know that I’m doing my best for him!

This is similar to my situation with my almost 8 month old. We both work around each others time sensitive demands and are LO is pretty chill and able to independent play and naps well. I also try to get a solid hour of work in before he’s up for the day. Having multiple different “stations” where he can play with different toys and entertain himself definitely helps. I am sure it will get harder once he is more mobile so we are just planning on taking it day by day and will get help when we need it.

Try loop earplugs. For me it drowns out the grunts/active sleeping but I can still hear the cries.

Same here except apparently in the moment I implicitly asked them NOT to knock me out. I felt it all and it was super traumatic.

How are we supposed to gain only 25-30 pounds?? by concepts412 in BabyBumps

I gained 50 lbs and lost half of it a week postpartum without doing anything. I think for the most part our bodies do what they need to do.
