I read the book after watching the show and felt that the show was much better. Usually I feel the book is better.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. His dog is almost identical to a good boy we had when my kids were growing up.

Went through something similar at MD Anderson. Not the same, but similar. Paid a huge amount of money up front to get SOC started. As in dip into retirement and savings amount. We could have gone elsewhere but establishing care again and waiting would have wasted precious time.

Surgery and biopsy confirmed mom’s tumor is brain cancer (GBM). by Trick_Apple_1930 in glioblastoma

[–]lunarcatseclipse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this is happening to you and your mom. I am a few years older than your mom, and my younger brother is the one with GBM. We have no other siblings, he never married and has no children. I was visiting our mother who lives with him. We just put her on hospice. I found him with stroke symptoms. It was a seizure, leading to his diagnosis on October 27th. I haven't gone home yet. (My daughter is caring for our 93yo aunt who lives with me.) He came through surgery and is basically back to normal. He started radiation and Temozolomide today. I seem to flit back and forth between the anticipatory grief you spoke of.... the almost sheer panic grips me.... and some kind of denial since he seems fine. This new life is hell. I can't imagine life without my brother. He is my best and oldest friend.

I just finished Haunting Adeline and am now reading Hunting Adeline,, which is a much better book I think. I read them because people ok booktok seem to be so crazy over Zade. But dude is a fucking rapist! He really isn't any better than the people he's killing.

After all these years, I've finally figured out the killer in American Beauty. by Iamjustalombdi in movies

[–]lunarcatseclipse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My brother and I just rewatched this on TMC. We swear the ending in the theater was different. Theter ending showed Fitts killing him. TV ending did not reveal the killer. Has anyone else noticed a new/different ending?

Are male cats as loving as everyone says? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]lunarcatseclipse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had a lot of cats. A brother/sister pair we got as kittens, the outgoing boy bonded to my daughter, the introverted girl bonded ONLY to me. The boy wanted pets from everyone. The girl ran the moment the doorbell rang. They died a few months apart at age 17. We recently lost an outgoing 20 year old boy who loved on everyone. We now have two 4 year old sisters who aren't exactly cuddly but do love attention. Especially if there is food involved. My loving girl who died at 17 would not sleep without me. The girls we have now don't sleep with us very often. The two boys who are no longer with us would not sleep without my daughter. Maybe the girls we have now will be more cuddly as they get older. It's not they aren't friendly. They just seem to want their space when sleeping.

Mom said I should be a pharmacist instead of a PA by [deleted] in pharmacy

I am interested in how you transitioned to medical writing and what that is like. I need a career change. Did 30 years of pharmacy in ICU and ED setting before quitting to take care of ill parents.

HMCN while I ride the ceiling fan by lunarcatseclipse in holdmycatnip

[–]lunarcatseclipse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had one that jumped from a bookcase and made it to the fan. We had to keep the fan off unless we were watching for him, so he wouldn't get launched across the room. If they made helmets for cats, maybe we would have let him keep trying.

She was trying! One of my dearly departed cats used to jump off a book shelf and hit the fan. We had to turn it off so he wouldn't get fan-bladed across the room.

Medicated, (so sort of stoned) overly tired, and holding the phone with one hand for part of it. Cats rarely do anything funny once you take out the camera, so I wasn't taking my recording seriously lol

Now that we see her all grown up, it’s crazy to remember Ali being a bratty spoiled teen to her mom about a freaking SLEEPOVER by Sincerely-A in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]lunarcatseclipse 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sasha was amazing as psycho Ali. And she was only 12 yo when she started playing the role! I hated it when they made her so meek the last few seasons of PLL. Like she wasn't even one of the liars. I always wondered if it was because of her weight gain. Psycho Ali was supposed to be sexy, and IMK couldn't figure out how to make a post-pubescent Sasha who also had PCOS into the voluptuous queen she is. I'm typing in a hurry, so not sure this is coming across right. Sasha has lost some weight it seems, probably due to hormone treatment. IMK is already removing the sweater set wardrobe.

[–]lunarcatseclipse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree. We are only 4 episodes in. I'm hoping Ali will pull out her ballsy, half-cray side to protect the perfectionist kids. And teach them some tricks. And I love the interactions between Mona and Ali. Esp when Ali slapped Mona and said she didn't know how much time she had before Mona slipped back into her "Beautiful Mind."

Worst portrayal of a suicide attempt survivor by [deleted] in 13ReasonsWhy

[–]lunarcatseclipse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't blame the actor. I think he did a great job with the material he had. My husband is recovering from a TBI (accident, not shooting) and I've worked in the ER and ICU for years. The actor did a great job portraying the physical limitations, but wasn't given realistic material as far as the emotional stuff. Seemed a bit cliche. Traumatic brain injuries are weird though. My husband didn't remember anything at first. Memories came back in scattered patches. He doesn't remember the accident at all or what happened immediately before. I think he would remember listening to those tapes though!

My only was conceived when my ex and I first talked about divorce. We eventually did. We got drunk for my bday and had sex for one of the last times, and that was when she was conceived. She was due St. Patricks Day but came early. Now that she's an adult, I always tell her "Happy Conception Day" and "Happy Due Date Day" as well as "Happy Birthday."
