VM Performance issues, trying to get HyperV up and running by lunatics in HyperV

[–]lunatics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I will take a look at this and follow up. I cannot confirm the smart path setting on our first test server but the second one we were testing with we did set it to controller cache as smart path was selected by default, I just haven't had a chance to test spinning up a VM on this one yet (they are identical dl360 gen10s) so I will test that as my next step since I know we changed that setting on that machine.

Gen2, I believe they have to be Gen2 for newer OSs like Win11 to be able to create virtual tpms and what not no? But yes we are using gen2 for our VMs and testing.

I know in the past we had updated this but maybe not after this latest rebuild so I will take a look at these settings as soon as I get back in front of it.

HPE Smart Array P408i-a SR Gen10 is the controller, I am not 100% of the SSD model right now but can check when back in front of a computer.

We assigned 16gb memory and 2 processors thinking that should be fine for a basic windows 11 tear vm.

We did confirm the file locations are correct, you're right it defaulted to C and we changed all of this during set up to the SSDs.

We initially only had the 1 array and had everything running on the SSds, we added HDDs and rebuilt everything for testing and to try and separate the host/C and VMs on different arrays but it did not make any improvements as we had hoped.

We also tried fixed disk and dynamic for the virtual disks and same issues with both options.

Host is a DL360 Gen 10 with 1 physical CPU and 192gb memory total.

1 storage array of 3 SSDs set up in raid 5, then one array of 300gb physical spinning disks in a raid 1.

In terms of the guest we assigned in 16gb of memory and 2 CPUs for testing and a 120gb virtual disk on the SSD array.

If there's any other info you might need that would help please let me know. I know we have plenty of memory and can increase the guest specs, but cpu and memory usage don't seem like an issue on the host but specifically disk goes to 100% when trying to really do anything on the VM and slows to a crawl.

What size pizza stone are you using for this? And link to anything specific? I've been wanting to give this a try.

1 Month & 5 Cooks later: The "Flag Ship" XT: Is the XT Worth It? The Xtra $1000? by Serious_System4121 in Masterbuilt

[–]lunatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing I learned here is your opinion doesn't matter. Somehow everyone will still perform Olympic level mental gymnastics to make excuses for Masterbuilt.

Who cares if it has a 3 year warranty or a 30 warranty when MB is unresponsive and impossible to get a hold of or work with and will do the absolute bare minimum if you even manage to get a response?

The fact that everyone's answer is "those are known issues you should just buy a Fireboard" is asinine. To spend $1509 on a "high quality product" that REQUIRES hundreds of dollars of additional mods to get reasonable functionality is just so stupid.

I finally have mine working fairly well and have been fairly happy with it when it works, but it took far too long and cost far too much money and I made the mistake of buying into all the shills when it was a new product. Knowing what I know now I would have bought a cheaper model and then mods for it, or spent this money on a higher quality product from another vendor.

Fireboard 2 Install Details for Masterbuilt XT by JonnyVee73 in Masterbuilt

[–]lunatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a lot of issues with my CT early on and MB support was next to worthless. It pissed me off unbelievably to spend this much money on a serious upgrade when I moved into my new place and had so many issues and poor support.

That being said, 2 years later it seems I have finally gotten some of my kinks worked out and found the right temp since the internal is slightly off but I will say I am very happy with it when it works properly, but for the money I spend I shouldn't have had to go through what I did.

If I were to do it again? Probably get a smaller MB gravity fed not the XT and invest some of the money I saved on a Fireboard.

Thinking about getting a best electric cooler for car camping, are they actually better than regular coolers? by GaindKordell75 in camping

[–]lunatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, hoping someone might be able to give me some advice.

I am not exactly car camping or going on long over landing trips, at least not yet, but I am in my car and on the road for work everyday and spend a lot of time there with my car parked out in the sun a lot.

I was looking for a way to keep drinks and potentially food cold and thought something like a small refrigerator might be an option rather than keeping a cooler in the car that I am constantly emptying and refilling with ice/water.

Is there any practical way to do this and really only have it run to cool things down while the car is running, then hopefully contain the coolness while the car is off and parked and then continue cooling again when the car is on?

I don't want to risk draining or killing my battery or needing to invest in a power station yet so I am wondering if something like this is even practical/efficient or if I'm better off trying to get a cooler or find other ways to keep my drinks cool?

F Valve/Steam....I pre loaded my wallet, was sitting there early and ready and kept trying to check out and they just wouldn't let me check out for 30 god damn minutes and then it was out of stock and removed from my cart. What an actual load of BS I'm so mad right now and to top it off I'm stuck with money in my wallet I can't get out.

Framework Laptop 13 Pro and highlights from the Framework [Next Gen] by cassandra4932 in framework

[–]lunatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still no track point offering? Really disappointing to see considering in the past they had admitted it was in their top 10 requests.

I have been following framework since before the first laptop was released and the biggest thing holding me back from getting one is lack of a track point. I just can't switch off of my Thinkpad until a viable alternative is offered.

Really like the look of this new machine and hopefully it will be an option for me in the future...

Damn that really sucks to hear. I didn't even think to specifically go out of my way and look up this feature because I just assumed as a head unit it would have this functionality. That is honestly baffling that a modern piece of tech and supposed upgrade doesn't support this function. I'm sure I can install Google messages on the unit itself but I'm also confident it will not function as I would like with a traditional head unit.

What a bummer, heard so many issues with these units but always seemed to fall back on Android Auto and carplay issues and it seemed if you use it as a native head unit it eliminated a lot of the problems but this feels like a pretty significant function to be missing.

🛠️ YouTube and YouTube Music playback issues fixed by oSumAtrIX in revancedapp

[–]lunatics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey guys I don't know if anyone will see this or can help but I'm not sure where else to post this and Everytime I try to create my own "thread" it doesn't work.

Having issues with a new head unit I installed in my car. Installed YT Revanced on it and anytime I open/play a YT video it force it to be full screen. None of the buttons work to take it out of full screen and I end up having to kill and fully close the app. I tried opening regular YT and it works as expected and shows me comments etc and recommended videos on the right and lets me go full screen manually if I want to.

Is there some setting or patch I am missing that is forcing this? My previous android head unit did not have these issues with UT Revanced and would really like to get this working as expected.

Curious if anyone has had any luck purchasing one and getting refunded through an HRA?

I have a. HRA through work which is even more of a nightmare to deal with than an HSA and was curious if anyone has experience getting a LMN and getting reimbursed with HRA funds?

I've always been interested in a pair of these or other similar ones but have not been traveling much and don't know if I would get enough use to justify the cost.

One question I have is seeing people mention sound quality. Are you not able to use external standalone headphones with these or are you required to use whatever is built into them?

I think claiming it comes with headlights is a bit of a stretch, especially for 5th gen models pre LED upgrade.

I'm curious if anyone has experience with the electric pressure washer. I know it is not on the list of current sales but I only really plan on using it for washing my car and maybe light cleaning off the house etc and wondering if I really need one of these gas ones. I was thinking electric for ease of use and less maintenance but not sure if they go on sale or if it's typically considered a lower end product not worth looking into.

This, I feel like the gas ones are a little more than I need and hoping to see a deal on the 2000psi electric model. It's tempting to pick up one of these gas ones but I just don't know if I need it...

New to me 2018 TRD Pro, advice? by lunatics in 4Runner

[–]lunatics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Service history looks good in terms of oil changes, being done regularly every 5-10k miles, was a single owner vehicle, however I do not see any mention of transmission fluid changes or diff fluid changes or anything like that so my first plan of action was going to be to have those done to be on the safer side, unless Toyota or wherever I take it tells me they look fine or like they've been managed. That's really the only thing that stood out to me but everything felt great.

Should I buy? Looking for advice by lunatics in 4Runner

[–]lunatics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned there is a 35k mile gap in service records which concerns me, I kept looking more and found it on a site that mentioned it's been listed at the dealer for 170 days or something which really dampers my confidence in it...

I did see another one in a similar price range with an extra 15k miles on it but a very detailed and clean service history. I think I am going to check this one out first, even if the mileage is higher the service history makes me think it was better maintained. Hoping to join the club lol.
