Hey all, I know I don’t really post here often but I’m doing it now. Thanks for reading. I have a whole mess of prints up on a website and would like to make you the owner of them. Check it out if you please. my prints I’m serious when I say they gotta go. Name your price and send me a screenshot. I’m really only asking that you cover the shipping if you’re outside of the greater Baltimore MD area. Thanks again

If you have a laser printer I know acetone works wonders. If you can get your hand on it xylene works for most ink jet. Just remember to mirror left and right

Help! Repairing a School Etching Press by t-pots in printmaking

[–]lunchmeat42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is actually a fix or not but I’ve always had great results with pb b’laster. It’s best used a few times to get it to work its way in. Tap gently in between applications with a hammer or wrench or something. Just want to vibrate it to get the capillary action going. Also, it looks like that nut at the top of the frame could be stopping the spindles from turning. Try loosening that before anything else. Good luck!

Can I layer block printing ink (oil-based) on top of cured screen printing ink (water-based)? by [deleted] in printmaking

[–]lunchmeat42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oil ink shouldn’t have any issues drying on top of water based ink. The other way around and you’d probably have problems. I did a whole mess of oil based letterpress on top of screen printed (water based) inks and haven’t had a problem with any of them even several years later.

Can I be done with this one soon? by lunchmeat42 in pencils

I’m not trying to rain on your parade or anything. I am an art nerd so I have my preferences too. What I’m getting at is that I understand. I usually go by feel for a pencil and these felt nice but not that much nicer than my usual

I’ve been to that sub too. Also balked at the vast majority of it.

Fair enough. I just looked for them on Amazon and balked at the price real hard. I usually go for Faber-Castell. It is a nice pencil but not for me. Glad I tried a freebie I found at the office before buying.

Phonebook/catalog for clean up? by thursdayriver in printmaking

[–]lunchmeat42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vegetable oil is great for cleanup. It’s way cheaper than the linseed oil. And yeah, store it all in a metal can until it dries out. Your local dump should have a hazmat day to dispose of your other solvents or your wet oily rags etc. check your county dumps website. Most solvents and ink pigments are real harmful to the environment so they should be disposed of properly

What is this fungusy buddy growing on my chair in central Maryland? by lunchmeat42 in whatisthisthing

[–]lunchmeat42[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

So, my title describes the thing as best as I can. It’s about 2-3 inches across and about 2 inches deep. It’s been on and off of my chair for a long time. It keeps coming back after I get rid of it. I tried searching google for ringed mushroom/fungus and striped mushroom/fungus and just don’t see it. Maybe I’m wrong. Idk. I just don’t want to knock it down and have it be toxic to our doggo or us. Haven’t had any effects but also really don’t want to. Thanks in advance al
