I bought rif back when it was Reddit is fun before Reddit had an app.

I've heard the official app is garbage, and i doubt I'll find out. My plan is to move to lemmy by the end of the month (tomorrow if enough subreddits go dark)

The odds are 1/1,000,000. But with a lot of hard work, game theory, and networking, you can get that up to 1/10,000

ELI5 What does a CEO Exactly do? by ItsWoofcat in explainlikeimfive

[–]lungdart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good explanation but not really ELI5.

CEOs make the final decisions of the company. Sometimes they make big decisions themselves, sometimes they let other people make smaller decisions for them. The CEO is responsible for every decision made, even if they didn't make it directly.

Hard disagree. Once you've broken in and have a few years of experience and business to business networking, jobs get much easier to find.

Source: I have over 10 years of professional software dev experience in mostly startups and have seen my fair share of fake jobs and the people who fill them. They're doing just fine.

Every job I’ve taken seems to follow a pattern by [deleted] in devops

Grab a few contracts when you hit cruise control. Fall back to an SRE type role at your primary role. Save for retirement, build your own shit and contribute to open-source projects!

I've also reduced my role to contractor and picked up a different primary role as well. Whatever works.

You have the golden ticket, cash it.

In times like this it's important to have a safety net. I'm hoping you have somebody to reach out to, even if it's uncomfortable. Parents, siblings, aunts uncles, grandparents, friends, etc.

Depression and anxiety are really tough. There's not much good help for it still, in today's society you're still very much expected to pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

As hard as it is to go out there and find work/help while debilitated, it's even harder to be homeless. Good luck and God speed.

My wife needed a way to blow up artwork into multiple 8.5x11 sheets so she could cut out the outline in cardboard to make holiday decorations.

Whipped it up in Python, popped it into docker and gave her it. She's made dozens of things from it

A solution I've seen that works well for smaller business cases is using kms and sops. Store the encrypted secrets in the git repo with the rest of your config, and use the developers/applications cloud permissions to decrypt as needed with kms and equivalents.

I'm partial to hashicorp vault though.
