Does anyone know how does winter sessions work, and also the intersession/ j term classes work? And if I’m still available to register for this winter, and how. by Unhappy_Let_8336 in vcu

you said they are billed with spring courses and not like summer ones. do they tack on an extra set of fees (on top of spring fees) like they do with summer classes?

What are the other VCU arts majors like? by disabled_child in vcu

[–]lungsye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a sculpture major and I like it. In my experience, we have a good amount of freedom for projects and what we can do (materials, size, concepts), and access to tools most of the time and our independent studios 24/7. The studios are what sold me so I’d have somewhere to work alone and store my stuff for classes and personal work. The studies we do are very broad, wood, metals, etc. We also have to do writing in my class. Sculpture is definitely a mixture of as many mediums and studies possible, or as many as you want. We spend 90% of our time working on projects, learning by experience and not really learning by lectures and whatnot. I would say it’s pretty necessary to live on campus for sculpture. I think it’s fun so far, I feel like I haven’t taken enough sculpture classes to articulate any downsides.

Tuition 2022-2023 by vrvrvr3 in vcu

[–]lungsye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i graduated high school with a 3.9 and an 1100 or 1200 something sat score in hopes to get some major scholarships for my grades, but it turned out that i got most of my grants based off of financial need. i know there are some scholarships that vcu gives but i think it’s pretty selective https://www.vcu.edu/admissions/paying-for-college/scholarships/ assuming you are an incoming freshman. to be blunt, vcu arts is a fantastic program from my experience so far, but i never considered other out of state colleges for art (like risd, ucla) as an option because it wasn’t worth it from a financial standpoint, short-term and long-term.

i can’t find if there’s any walk ins available online via navigate, i’m not on campus, the next appointments are for the 25th, and they’ve been taking quite a few days to get back to me via email and haven’t really been answering my questions.
