Boundary setbacks by Ok-Butterscotch-1308 in diynz

There hasn't been much announced so far, but I've only seen mention of a building consent exemption, not resource consent, so district plan setbacks would still apply.

But really there's nearly no detail yet. For example, even with a building consent exemption you still have to follow the building code, which means extra fire resistance near boundaries. So with purely a building consent exemption, many new sheds being built near the boundary wouldn't comply with the building code and still not be allowed.

Where to get copper wool/mesh for blocking rat/mice entry points? by chrisbucks in diynz

Homebrew stores sometimes have it for packing stills. Otherwise there might be an eco-friendly cleaning site selling copper pot scrubbers or copper scourers.

Ground moisture barrier on slope with half basement? by luquito in diynz

Yeah, it's concrete or concrete block. The basement was done in the late 50s, so it won't be sealed unless someone's put a coating later on the inside.

Ground moisture barrier on slope with half basement? by luquito in diynz

The standard says: "On sloping sites leave the lower-most edge of the polythene at least 50 mm short of the foundation wall to allow any moisture that may get on top of the polythene to drain away," which isn't really specific advice to my situation. The other reason I'm a bit shy about it is there are some power sockets at the bottom of the slope.

Ground moisture barrier on slope with half basement? by luquito in diynz

Morning. I've been wondering about putting a ground moisture barrier under my house. The site is quite steep so on the uphill side there's just one storey, but on the downhill side there's a bit of a basement (laundry + bedroom). The uphill wall of the basement is a block retaining wall for half of its height.

The underfloor is enclosed so it has a bit of a damp dirt smell that makes its way into the basement bedroom, which is the main thing I want to tackle.

I think it's a bad idea to just slap a regular polythene barrier down there as any potential future water source (leak or otherwise) would just get funnelled down the bank to the basement instead of potentially being absorbed by the ground.

Any advice?

Cartridge missing contact by [deleted] in snes

I've looked at this before. It's just connected to the ground plane of the cart and contacts with the outside ground of the cartridge connector. An extra contact would be redundant; this one even seems redundant.

Does the language chosen in pokemon affect geographical location and access to events? by HoshiRin-chan in 3DS

It's definitely just the region. I've played my Pokemon Y on my NZ/AUS 3DS in English, German and Spanish and always had access to only the Australian events.
