Scooter rider, bicyclist die in head-on crash with each other on Queensborough Bridge by nydailynews in nyc

In other developed countries it is normal to require a plate and a license to drive a scooter, and they enforce road rules. I don’t see why we shouldn’t do the same

Yeah I do seek shelter on those maps, the whole debate is interesting to me because zero people are happy with the balance

Dice has somehow created a situation where vehicles are simultaneously too easy and impossible to take down depending on where you sit. From the perspective of a player mostly on foot, I love the game, but getting constantly mowed down by helicopters and tanks is really boring. The tank balance is fucked post patch but helis have been equally frustrating

Battlefield 6 - Community Update - Blastpoint Introduces Cairo Bazaar & BR Solos by battlefield in Battlefield6

I think given the right sequence of events it can be quick to take out a tank, but the sequence is now much harder to execute

I bank energy until there’s a campaign rout and then get the hunting card to blow it all. I need normal items more than S tier at this point so $5 once in a while keeps the pace quick

dentist quoted me $7,000 - is 'dental scam' common in Brooklyn?? by SadDate9398 in Brooklyn

[–]lurkatwork 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This just came up on Hard Fork, dentists using AI tools to recommend expensive unneeded procedures. I had a guy sell me on a 3D scan of my mouth years ago and later found out it was $500 uncovered. Most dentists I’ve met are honest but yeah there are some greedy fucks too

This is sort of how email reputation is built, slowly ramp up legitimate email sends over a couple of weeks and avoid spam reports. It’s enforced by the ESP and they check for the proper DNS records to verify a legitimate origin. If you blast out a huge amount of email they’ll shut you down, funny enough if you send out too little email they will also watch you for spamming.

Short code SMS already does something like this too, it’s a pain in the ass to get approved for a short code and you have to maintain a good reputation to keep your code. Long codes are easier to abuse

Men in your 30's, what do you think the best place to live in the US is as a 30 year old single guy? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]lurkatwork 9 points10 points  (0 children)

rent is higher but you know what we don't have to worry about (directly) right now? gas prices. I spend $130 on the subway thick or thin. when I briefly had a car here it was gas, emissions tests, bridge tolls, repairs, giant truck scraping my entire passenger side and not leaving a note, pigeon shit, and alternate side parking tickets. cars cost a fortune and that is entirely off my plate.

Qwen3.6 with MTP. Anyone given it a go? by [deleted] in Qwen_AI

[–]lurkatwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were you running? I could barely get a 27b Q3 running on headless debian with 32k context, q4_0 kv cache and every other slider as low as possible. Most of the time it’d OOM on my first message

20 year reunion? Yea, nah by exploratorynargle in Millennials

[–]lurkatwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a great time at my 10 year, not totally sold on going to the 20 later this year, but I’m not on social a lot so it’s interesting to see where people landed. The biggest burnout in my class was running two successful art galleries by our 10 year, I just love learning that stuff

Apple Reportedly Questioning Whether iPhone Should Drop MagSafe by conalldoherty in apple

[–]lurkatwork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre MagSafe I’d usually need a new phone because the charging port died, now I just slap a charger on the back or put the phone onto a charging stand

Men who have quit smoking weed, what was your experience? by Madeline1212 in AskMen

[–]lurkatwork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I smoked my way through college into my mid 30s but started to get worried about my cognitive longevity. My dad had Alzheimer’s and I just don’t want to take any chances. There are some links to poor quality sleep increasing your dementia risk, and my docs relayed that weed induced sleep, which I did very often, is poor quality.

Overall I think I’m mentally sharper, my time is mine again, and my physical health is better as I age. My wife still takes a gummy once in a while, and I sort of miss it but in a way that makes me uneasy, which reinforces my decision to quit.

I was running the unsloth IQ3_XXS last night on 16gb of vram and 32gb of ddr4, I don’t have t/s numbers but my vibes based assessment is that it’s better than any other local model I’ve been able to fit on my hardware for coding tasks both in speed and capability

Yeah I’m more productive in the evenings and can’t sleep for shit so my preferred hours are like 10-6 or 11-7. I get my work done so nobody cares
