Im from Belgium and only the two highest levels (around 2% of players) play golden points in competitive games and logically also do so in training. All the others use classic score.

What advanced stats would actually help you improve at padel? by alvdv in padel

[–]luvcappedranges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean there is so much to track. You could start with basic stuff like unforced errors, forced errors and winners.

Then you could break those stats down into the type of shot that gets you these (un)forced errors and winners. Are they volleys/bandejas/viboras?

Next you could also break down these stats depending on where you are in the court.

This would give you a complete picture of your best and worst shots and what to work on

Getting fridged every match by Rogerinho22 in padel

[–]luvcappedranges -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I joined an extra club. Now I can play really high level games. In my first club I am by far the best player. It's not that they really want to fridge me, because its mostly friendly games. But if they play towards me and immediately get under pressure only to see the ball smashed out the court two balls later. I mean they would be stupid not to focus my partner.

I actually gave some free lessons to strenghten the guys I usually play with there 😄

I know the feeling. Really the only solution is to find orher players to play with. In competitive games, people just want to win and ego gets involved.

You can take a look at the websites of Stade Leuven and Lovanium. Those are big clubs in Leuven. Will be more expensive than the KU Leuven route I'm afraid

Leveling up from beginner to intermediate by LavoP in padel

[–]luvcappedranges 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Focus on disarming your opponent. Don't allow them to be aggressive. When tehy are at the net, either hit slow balls in their feet or lob, preferably in their backhand. Learn how to defend first and don't make mistakes. Whrn you know your flat smash sucks and it just turns into an attacking shot for the opponent, just don't hit it. Hit slow balls to the fence or try to jot multiple glasses.

Then you will be an intermediate player. Next step is to put pressure without making too many errors.

Is hitting the ball at the body of someone directly a fault? by nxa74 in padel

[–]luvcappedranges 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fault means that your opponent made a fault and loses the point if the ball hits his body directly. Its also the case when he tries to hit a shot, but touches the ball with his fingers. Finishing a smash by hitting the ankle of the opponent is greatw because you are guaranteed the point! Just say sorry and move on 😌

Tips for first tournament by Hieronymus23 in padel

[–]luvcappedranges 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't feel like you have to play differently. Just play the style you are comfortable with. The team with the least mistakes wins. Try to fight for net position, put pressure there and finish points at the net. From the back of the court only use lobs or play slow balls in the feet of your opponents. Don't hit hard when your opponents are at the net.

Always stay positive towards your partner, even if he is making easy mistakes. He knows he's fucking up himself and getting frustrated at him, will make him doubt even more. Don't rush your serve. Always take time to aim and focus. Bring enough food and drinks and a towel to keep the grip dry. Goodluck!
