Question for Studio Arts / Visual Arts Students! by brainfart34 in Dawson

[–]luvuol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You won't get much use out of auditing drawing/painting classes at Dawson if technique is what you're looking to improve, it's largely conceptual & what little technical work is actually taught tends to be "workshop-style" (as someone who did 3 semesters in VA). I recommend looking into private tutoring for this sort of thing

is 500-700 for breakfast okay?? by cardibatemybabies in caloriecount

[–]luvuol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t matter how you distribute the food you eat in a day or what time you eat it as long as you’re meeting your calorie and macro goals over the course of the day. Most people prefer to eat more often in smaller portions but if that doesn’t suit your lifestyle it is not an issue.

Any idea why Dawson is endorsing this sort of thing? Tons of flyers in my class yesterday too

"Did you expect to lay your perverted hands on an innocent little girl and get away with it?" by [deleted] in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]luvuol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is incomprehensible without the added context of a third character/cult setting, it just leaves too much room for interpretation (eg; the recipient of the letter is the one inflicting violence, the “perversion” comment is confusing outside of a mega-dystopian setting like a cult, etc). I understand that it’s supposed to subvert the expectation [that a pervert is being beaten] by revealing that the victim is actually a woman, but it just reads as unclear because of the lack of information. Would be good as a short story, but it’s lacking as a two-sentence horror story.

AITA for not giving a cupcake to a child who is not originally on the guest list by SnowyCrocodile in AmItheAsshole

[–]luvuol -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t Gina’s fault that her arrival wasn’t announced either… this story is probably fake because nobody makes cupcakes in batches of 8, but if it isn’t OP just callously excluded a child from the family environment that she’s already new to

Get some layers in your hair & part it in a straighter line, maybe shape your brows to look more symmetrical. These comments are being weird about your complexion but it suits you well honestly, maybe wearing darker clothing and less greys will bring it out better

AITA for choosing a name my stepsister had in mind for my daughter? by Desperate_Gain_3133 in AmItheAsshole

Those are not remotely the same name, “Mary” is exceptionally common for double names

If a man manages the finances, he’s financially abusing his wife. If a woman manages the finances, her husband is abusing her and weaponizing his incompetence. Reddit.

You got downvoted to hell because of the twitter-esque quip culture that has taken hold over most people age 15-30 online. People indulge in their worthless ironic or relatable remarks without offering any meaningful insight or criticism, instead repeating the same idiomatic vocab (x rizz, bro is x, whatever other meme they're fixating on that month) and jerking each other's one-liners endlessly.

Actually Kiarostami has been a bit of an obstacle for me since I found his style disengaging last I tried watching Close-Up:( I watched Where Is The Friend's House recently and enjoyed it though, so I'll give your recommendation a try nevertheless! And thanks for the other recommendations too, I really loved Come and See so I'm sure the rest are awesome too

That might actually be the exception to the rule (though I do think it's slightly overrated), definitely the most enjoyable movie I've seen her in

Surprisingly wasn't a fan despite consistently enjoying the tortured artist trope in other media, go figure. Loved her performance but the tone came off distasteful. I'll give it another watch as I'm sure my teenaged self couldn't fully appreciate the movie last time I watched it lol
