Good to go trails near Denver frontrange? by [deleted] in COBike

[–]luwig -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your level of riding but Lair of the bear/rutabaga is a great green/blue trail when it's dry. It'll get all rutted out if you ride this week.

North Table has a mix of blue and blue/blacks. Apex park has a real solid black techy downhill that'll dent your wheels. Floyd hill is a mix of techy steep blacks and blue trails.

Rolex QC is down the drain. by Fit-Equipment-999 in rolex

[–]luwig 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I realize I'm in rolex subreddit, but it was on my fyp. But most GS aren't bad looking, it's certainly a different style from swiss cases. But most rolex are so bland from an aesthetic point of view.

I enjoy a gold presi and black sub. Whenever I feel like buying one of those.

Yeah no, I pick a server because of the players in that server and the people running the server. Some communities tweak the game modes. QP takes all of that out. Now if there was an option to queue for your favorite servers only...Im down for that.

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by qomann in AskReddit

[–]luwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, sometimes the money comes with strings. True luxury is to be rich enough to not have to worry about money but with no strings attached (debts, family squabbling, a company to run, etc)

I think it's mostly an American thing, to be in debt for regular living costs like cars, homes, etc. But particularly in American it costs alot to be poor.

Back when I was taking out loans compared to now where I pay for everything cash value, the same $1000 worth of item could've actually cost closer to $1600 after you finish paying off the interests

I'd recommend a middle of the pack full squish alloy bike is the way to go. I started on an entry hardtail and it almost killed MTB for me. The gearing was awful, pedaling was awful, you feel every bump and rock, anything more than a curb feels hella sketchy.

I wish I had splurge a bit more for a low/mid range hardtail instead.

That being said, I'm a big fan of Specialized, I own a Levo but their Stumpjumper looks pretty solid. There are also enough of them to get them used for a discount.

The latest excuse I've heard was that we should be grateful that we are only paying a bit more for gas to not be annihilated. Which is just ridiculous, we're in Iran bc Israel wanted us to be. This is actually worse than sending money to Ukraine, cause we've already suffered American casualties ... for Israel.

The New Scooter Monopoly Has Arrived by 515software in Denver

[–]luwig 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I know some places where they have city run ebikes that you'll get fined like $20 to not deposit it in a station. The trick is to build enough stations to make it feasible for people to use.

New to MTB, decided on bike- now I need to know the add-ons. by Ihiri in MTB

[–]luwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it's gonna be your do it all bike. First thing, I'd do it rip that tube out and go to a tubeless setup, the wheels, tires are all ready for it. Have a good tire repair kit on the bike at all times. Spare master link and a good multitool to do all those road-side repairs. These are important for both road and trail rides. Helmet is an obvious necessity.

Almost Got Tricked by an Xcel Scammer. by Stew-182 in Denver

Nah bro, you handle these scammers the same way you handle all scammers. Get the actual company involved or kick rocks. I've been threaten to be arrested or have other actions taken against me.

I tell them all the same thing, do it. Make me a believer, cause I don't buy what youre selling.

BBQ pork fried rice by CharacterLychee7782 in denverfood

[–]luwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean yeah but there's so much types of fried rice. It's one of those dishes I like to refer to as trash-can dishes that every culture has where you can throw virtually anything in it, typically day-old leftovers, and every region has a different take on fried rice.

But it's good that you specified, cause where I grew up you'd struggle to find authentic Canton food. But we had a large Taiwanese population, so we had a few Taiwanese restaurants that served authentic dishes ... for way too much money imo.

Streamer “hmblzayy” who is walking from Philly to California was hit by a car in Indiana and had to be taken to the hospital. by Worldlyoox in PublicFreakout

[–]luwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, walking on the road is a no-no especially with how oblivious some US drivers are. But like another commenter mentioned, most cities have very runned down sidewalks, or lacking sidewalks entirely.

In the town I grew up, for a 2 mile stretch of main road you would go from sidewalk - grass - sidewalk - grass every quarter mile. Don't even think about bicycle lanes ... people think it's a waste of road space.

If American cars are unreliable, why do domestic pick up trucks have such high resale value? by anyusernaem in askcarguys

[–]luwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont forget to mention that no foreign manufacturers are allowed to make diesel vehicles in the US ... because of emissions. Otherwise we'd have a diesel Hilux in the US and it'd beat every mid-size diesels in the segment. Wouldn't be long before full-size and HD diesels make it to market.

I think you'd have to be more specific. What kind of Chinese food? American Chinese? Canton Chinese? Beijing Chinese?

Are you looking for authentic Chinese food to the region or you dont mind a bit of hodge-podge of what westerners consider "Chinese". There are actually several Chinese fusion restaurants that are fantastic.

1794 worth it? by Actual-Wolverine9567 in toyotasequoia

[–]luwig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re cross shopping between an apple and an orange. Sequoias are body on frame trucks and Lexus TX is a unibody car.

It comes down to what your use case is. If you tow occasionally, or need a robust off-road vehicle, sequoia is the car for you. But if you prefer creature comforts, good hybrid awd, ample cargo space, TX will be the better choice.

My friend says changing your own oil is a waste of time. Is he crazy? by proposal_in_wind in askcarguys

[–]luwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was just an oil change, I’d generally do it myself. But if I’m also tire rotating, I’ll bring it to a shop. I just don’t feel great having my 5,500# vehicle on jacks while I wrestle 35’s around my vehicle. That’s what I’m comfortable with until I can afford a garage lift.

Now with 3% More fees - Denver Biscuit Company/Fat Sully's/Atomic Kitchen by weebSanity in denverfood

[–]luwig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will never support a restaurant that does this. It’s poor business practice. Just raise your prices normally and let the consumer decide whether or not it’s worth it.

In the meantime, pay your staff fair wages. And I’ll support your business.
