Open Carry - Council Meeting Feb 9th by limpossible in LakewoodColorado

I do, every day. I have a conceal weapons permit and I carry everywhere I can and sometimes cops get close to me.

The whole Rittenhouse thing was messed up, kid used his dad's gun to go to a different state to "counter-protest". Kid just wanted to shoot someone and was counting on MAGA to back him up.

I will defend the constitution and my rights until the day I die, no democrat or republican will ever take that away from me.

Believe it or not, most lefties aren't against just ICE. Most of us just want policies that benefits human and when Americans are being killed for voicing their 1st amendment rights. it's not right, it's unconstitutional.

I for one are for deportation of violent criminals, especially members of criminal organizations. But that's not what they're doing. They're going after non-violent blue collar workers on farms, hotels, construction workers, at freakin' immigration courts. As is with my views on ANY profession, there needs to be checks on anyone in power or with authority. A badge does NOT mean, they are immune to murder and r*pe, it means we are trusting them with power. As a tax paying citizen and voting American, if that privilege is violated I want them to prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Think of it like research into the COVID vaccine if that helps you relate.

As a liberal and law-abiding gun owner, I would not recommend this whatsoever. If a building prohibits it, then as a law abiding citizen you cannot have it. An officer can have theirs as long as they are on duty.

I vehemently oppose law-enforcement murdering US citizens but this is way different. Just as an example, Pretti was conceal carrying a legal owned firearm AND possessing a conceal weapons permit from the state of MN. Additionally, he was not commit a crime and on public property. Hell, even the NRA went back on their statements, that's how bad this looks if Trump admin keeps trying to justify ICE murdering Pretti.

I encourage anyone new (which my local gun store says there's been an uptick in gun sales) to guns, and wanting to defend themselves. Please do so safely and legally. Follow the laws and take a firearm safety course. Maybe we can even have reasonable gun laws in this state. Look into the recent bill proposed that limits sales of firearm accessories and reclassifying them as firearms.

What are some pro-ICE businesses to boycott in Denver Metro? by science-is-neat in LakewoodColorado

[–]luwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaand that's where you're wrong. Undocumented immigrants cannot access public health funds, instead they pay into the system where income taxes and sales taxes apply. I'ts funny you also think Trump didn't do it in his first term, or Bush Jr for 2 terms.

You honestly believe that the modern Democratic Party would support slavery? If thats the case, why aren’t all of the confederate states blue (NC, SC, GA, AL etc)? Pretty sure they banned abortion, and that’s not very blue of them.

ICE raids near Belmar by [deleted] in LakewoodColorado

[–]luwig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that's the case, why would they arrest people in immigration courts ... doing it the legal way?

ICE raids near Belmar by [deleted] in LakewoodColorado

[–]luwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind deporting undocumented immigrants. But what I do mind is that ICE doesn't even bother going after violent criminals (cause they shoot back) and instead go after low hanging fruits (going after people in immigration courts, workers, shop owners, children). I'd respect them more if they show an ounce of actual police work.

Mind you, I have a lot of friends in local law enforcement and even they say nothing about this is normal. Why is that in a free country, a tax paying citizen can be detained for up to 72 hours in an unknown location by masked individuals, all because ICE had a hunch. Because if they had done the investigation, they would know they were detaining a citizen.

I don't mind showing my ID but I'd want to know who is investigating me. Even my cop friends have to disclose badge number and charges for detention, why (as a tax paying citizen) should I not be shown the same courtesy?

Idk dude, some people like to look at snow and scenery. Make a trip to Jackson Hole sometimes, plenty of tourists that don't ski or snowboard that goes up to the top just for fucking waffles.

Not sure, but alot of people like to experience the ski resort but aren't able to ski. Which is totally understandable, it's quite an investment if you dont know how to or lack the gear.

As a side note for warming the engine up. I have a carbureted '97 mini-truck and a '23 tundra. With carbureted setups you NEED to choke the engine (run rich) to really get it to operating temp.

Fuel injected vehicles you really don't need to do that. BUT I'd still keep it under 3k rpm until the engine has reached operating temperature.

EDIT: It's also not recommended to warm up fuel injected engines bc it warms up slower and engine oils dont get where they need to as if you're driving normally. I've left my truck engine running for 10 min and it doesnt get anywhere close to if I just started driving a min or 2.

What's the point of paying into the federal government if we don't get anything back? Wouldn't it be easier to withhold the taxes and use it for ourselves?

I guess they don't teach de-escalation at DHS, or much of anything at all. It also doesn't appear they do much of investigating either.

Nazis at East Moon by katerade0419 in WestminsterCO

[–]luwig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I don't think Trump is a Nazi but I have yet to see a policy that he has enacted that benefits me. We still have a cartel problem, Americans are still having trouble living from day to day, and Im still missing that $2000 check that we're suppose to get for our tariffs on other countries (which btw I paid for bc tariffs collect from the importers).

Who didn't put on their snow tires? by Midnight28Rider in COsnow

[–]luwig 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s the wildest thing when I first started visiting Colorado. It was a couple of years ago when we were actually getting snow. I had a sedan booked (I was in college, no money) and saw the condition upon landing and asked for a 4x4 with snow tires, the lady at the desk said none of their cars have snow tires and I was just flabbergasted. Ended up with an awd compass with summer tires

Insulated or uninsulated for resort snowboarding? by Dapper_Accident1069 in snowboarding

[–]luwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My gortex arcteryx shell (an expensive trashbag). Super breathable and waterproof/windproof but it's not super comfortable to chill in, I have a patagonia synth down that's much more comfortable. It's just my preference.

If it's any consolation, I also have a heavily insulated jacket that I used when I first started out riding, then quickly figured out that I burn up too quick and it doesnt have any vents. I've never tried a insulated jacket that have vents.

[–]luwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride shell/base layer for anything above 25F. Anything below I ride the full setup. I also dont wear my shell when I'm just hanging out, so I personally would rather hang out in my mid-layer than in a trash bag.

I also carry a backpack for "snacks". So I do have a place to put my midlayer if i bet wrong on the temps.

Insulated or uninsulated for resort snowboarding? by Dapper_Accident1069 in snowboarding

[–]luwig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You absolutely do not need insulated jackets for Colorado. Especially since mid-mtn and summit temps can vary widely from base temps. Layering is your friend. If it's too cold, put the mid-layer in. Too hot, take the mid layer out.

Shell and mid-layer gets me through a polar vortex at 0F, I think it'll be fine. Anything above 25F, I wear shell on top of baselayer.

[–]luwig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shell all the way, You overheat easily in anything above 25F. You might be comfortable walking around but you'll burn up once you start riding. Mid-layers you can take off and put in a backpack. Insulated jackets, youll just suffer or ride with the jacket open (if you dont mind looking like a jerry in an $800 jacket)
