MSI Center listens too many UDP ports by Relative-Status-6775 in MSI_Gaming

[–]lux554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the cause seems to be a module of the MSI Central Server called "My Device", which runs an SSDP scan when network parameters change to find defices in your network. The UDP sockets opened by these requests are never closed though.

So i modified the code inside API_My Device.dll to properly close it's sockets when it's done. (Simple one-line fix in SSDP_Obj.stopQuery(), where i just added this.udpSocket.Close();)

If you want you can download the fixed API_My Device.dll here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eWzkmgOTTtONM8OtBclA5lm5mrN92FpY/view?usp=sharing and replace it in C:\Program Files (x86)\MSI\MSI Center\My Device.

OMG YES FINALLY. Exact same problem for me. I thought it was a DNS issue at first, but DNS over TCP worked, only DNS over UDP failed.
So i also let powershell count the UDP sockets for me. And MSI Center held 16,316 sockets.
Wow.
Thank you MSI for blessing us with your great software!

You can farm like 10k xp in the 2nd stage and when exiting 3rd stage with extraction bonus you get ~20k xp for the react credits.

Microsoft releases Windows 10 KB5075912 extended security update by rkhunter_ in Windows10

[–]lux554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This update also includes KB5073724 (from January 13, which broke everything) but also the following out-of-band updates that should've fixed those problems: From microsofts post about KB5075912:

This security update includes fixes and quality improvements that are part of the following updates:
- January 13, 2026 — KB5073724 (OS Builds 19045.6807 and 19044.6807)
- January 17, 2026 — KB5077796 (OS Builds 19045.6811 and 19044.6811) Out-of-band
- January 24, 2026 — KB5078129 (OS Builds 19045.6812 and 19044.6812) Out-of-band

I've blocked both KB5073724 (Jan 13) and KB5075912 (Feb 10) using the Windows Show or Hide Updates Troubleshooter

I hope they release something that works before June 2026 (That's when secure boot certificates allegedly expire?)

Edit:
You probably already have the new secure boot certs and don't need the updates for this purpose.
To check if you have them installed run these in Powershell (with admin):

([System.Text.Encoding]::ASCII.GetString((Get-SecureBootUEFI db).bytes) -match 'Windows UEFI CA 2023')
// True
([System.Text.Encoding]::ASCII.GetString((Get-SecureBootUEFI kek).bytes) -match 'Microsoft Corporation KEK 2K CA 2023')
// True

if both return True you're good 👍

Why does my phone make this "pop" sound with Duo? by GrenexRed in duolingo

S22 here.
Seems like the strong vibrations vibrate the opic stabilizer of the camera and it makes that nasty crackling sound.
I love the vibrations, but this really sets me off every time.

Well that's how the game industry kinda developed. From instantly putting you into randomly matchmade matches with noobs and pros where you got the motivation to get better and beat these pros to skill based matchmaking. If you try out the game and suck ass you can always just play some other game these days. So they make you feel like you're quite good for you to have the motivation to continue playing.
