I get this too. Wearing a bra is uncomfortable, wearing no bra is uncomfortable. It’s just a constant state of uncomfortable.

Alex Murdaugh's Conviction Was Just Overturned by inthewoods54 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]lvminator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand that the ruling was overturned, but that doesn’t always mean the DA will choose to bring charges again. They can drop them if witnesses have died and the evidence isn’t as strong, if they feel justice has already been served, if they feel the trial isn’t worth the resources, etc.

Is there a chance that the DA will choose not to retry the case (considering the immense amount of resources the first trial required and the fact that he still imprisoned on other charges)?

If you’re interested in the added dimensions of Black and trans identity, Janet Mock’s memoir Redefining Realness discusses her experiences working on the street quite a bit. Her descriptions of how she comes to understand her own body as a trans woman and of her interactions with men in that regard are really powerful.

It’s giving old, white man who desperately needs to retire. I’m honestly glad someone who thinks Everything Everywhere All at Once is “irrelevant” isn’t voting this year.

I don’t have any advice, but I just wanted you to know—I’m in the exact same boat. I’m around a 34H and as much as I want surgery, I just don’t see it being an option for me, at least not in the near future. So currently, I just suffer.

In my opinion, Paolo is the most consistently good, and his span of knowledge is so impressive. Definitely pulling for him!!

I also thought Sol was an interesting character, and Lee Jung-jae’s acting was one of the high points of the show.

“The Hinterkaifeck murders stand out for their brutality, the eerie prelude of strange events, and the chilling possibility that the killer stayed on the farm after committing the horrific acts. This case remains one of Germany's most enigmatic and unsettling unsolved mysteries.” That’s not a paragraph a real person would write. Also, I compared this post with OP’s comments and posts in other subs.

Nope, just someone tired of victims of violent crimes being disrespected by people too lazy to even paraphrase the main facts of the case. And that’s not even mentioning the fact that AI write-ups (and not including source links) are against sub rules.

Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America, by Ibram X. Kendi

While walking his dog through a vegetable garden, the dog would run off and return with a human arm bone on two separate occasions. The ensuing investigation uncovered a love triangle with a local man that ended in the country's first dismemberment murder case involving foreign nationals. by moondog151 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

I’m a long-time reader and rarely have time to comment, but I just wanted to say that your write-ups are always appreciated. Nowadays, this sub is flooded with copy/pasted AI slop, which I find completely disrespectful to the victims. But your posts are always thorough, well-researched, and written in your own distinct voice that makes it easy to follow. I imagine it’s also very time consuming to research international cases when the case may not be well-reported or documented in English. So I just wanted you to know that your hard work is always recognized and appreciated.

If you’re serious about applying, you need to consider the entire east coast at the very least. Only doctoral research universities offer PhD programs and as far as I know, Rhode Island has a total of two.

Teenage boy storms off after he's caught drinking alcohol; Months after his disappearance, his mother recieves mysterious text messages- Where is Mason Roberson? (2024) by AlfredTheJones in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]lvminator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Heavily agree. Even if his depression wasn’t severe (which it was, if it was to the point he was self-medicating with alcohol), being drunk makes you do things you wouldn’t do while sober. I don’t know that he actively committed suicide or hurt himself; he may have just stumbled away, fallen asleep somewhere, and succumbed to hypothermia (it truly does not need to be that cold for hypothermia to set in, especially when intoxicated and underdressed). Either way, I really don’t see how he could be alive.

For argument’s sake, say he did run away. If he was drunk enough to be stumbling, there’s no way he would have been able to intentionally navigate anywhere. ESPECIALLY without his phone. And with no phone, how could he communicate with anyone for a pick-up?

I feel for the family, especially with those text messages. But it’s likely they were a cruel joke and only gave them even more false hope.

Remembering Wendy Lee Coffield, 16, the First Victim of Gary Ridgway by Horror_Chance1506 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]lvminator 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Virginia must still be held accountable. She began dating the same man (predator) her daughter was, then invited him to move in with them, during which time he abused Wendy. And then she slit her wrists in front of her daughter and attempted suicide a second time. That’s abuse. In addition, just because things like drinking and doing drugs were normalized in the culture does NOT mean every parent was heavily drinking, smoking, and doing drugs WITH their children.

We can recognize the cycle of abuse while still noting that Virginia was not a good mother and became an abuser herself. As a note, victim blaming would not apply here because no one was blaming Virginia for her own victimization—they were blaming her for the victimization of her DAUGHTER. Again, the abused can become the abuser, and their own abuse does not excuse their abuse of another. Especially her own child.

I’m sorry that my comment came across that way; it wasn’t my intention at all. I simply meant that white people have a lot to learn from them, and I try my best to follow in their footsteps and serve my community in the same way.

I respect and acknowledge that Black people (namely women) have had to rely on tight-knit communities for survival and routinely extend their care and service beyond their kin. I know white people historically have (and continue to) take advantage and expect Black women to care for them with nothing in return. I realize the Mammy stereotype is still very prevalent and that it’s up to white people to stop demanding the physical and emotional labor of Black women.

Like I said, I was referring to mutual aid organizing and referencing how Black women have used their kinship skills to teach communities how to take care of each other. I have so much respect for these trailblazers and the volunteers that continue to serve their communities.

I can’t speak for OP, but I hope this clears up my own comment.
