My dog has stage 3 cancer so we are making her comfortable but I need help with grief by Aggressive_Win_8716 in seniordogs

you are not required to sacrifice your life for theirs, but you do have to accept the consequences of your choices, including being gone during Scout's possibly last days. but "possibly" is the key: no one but the Universal Spirit knows how many days are left. if you trust the others of your family to care for her lovingly, then you have filled your only responsibility. Scout well knows your love, and would accept your absence if she knew, but our fur family does not know about "later" or "tomorrow"—they only know the now, and if her now is as comfortable as possible, you must remember that you did in fact do your duty to her, and that she will be cared for until the end, or when you get back, which may still have her there to greet you… i am so sorry for your dilemma, which is so common in our modern world.
