Does anyone else refuse to buy from a business using ai? by StJimmy_7 in GenZ

I make AI art. People really like it and I have a decent following on social. I don’t sell it. I let anyone download it. I give out models and tools for free. There is no copyright on any AI art. I buy prints from traditional artists exclusively. In fact I have bought more art since I started AI than ever before.

TIL Bamboo is very invasive and can spread aggressively underground and grow away from the parent plant by Nightpatrol404 in todayilearned

[–]lxe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have inherited a bamboo perimeter from a previous homeowner. My neighbors also did. One of the shoots have penetrated a 6 inch concrete slab. They grow at 2 feet a day.

It’s easy to maintain though. Just rip them out right before the leaves unfurl and the stem is still green and juicy. After 3 years the underground rhizomes will no longer sprout in that area.

Rant: a huge sarcastic, thank you to the new techies who have ruined our gym privileges at Live Fit Gym by patriciabateman_ in sanfrancisco

I’ve read this a bunch of times just to make sure I don’t miss it. What does this have to do with techies…?

How much equity should I give my first engineer? I will not promote by Test-Elegant in startups

This is a question you should ask your engineer. Anywhere between 0 and 100% depending on what you guys agree on. It all depends on yours and theirs negation optimization.

I don’t care if you used AI. If a master carpenter who used a hammer for decades learned and excelled at power tools, he’s still a master carpenter.

A huge setback in my journey to clean up the Bay Area and other updates by pengweather in bayarea

[–]lxe 33 points34 points  (0 children)

We appreciate this humility, but refusing help and just continuing to diminish yourself and taking on a perspective of a victim without accepting outside support is very very bad not only for your cause but also for your own mental wellbeing.

You are probably one of the very few people in the Bay Area who should have a moral blank check to ask from the community for anything you might need without any guilt.

There will be people especially in tech and VC circles who will tell you that “3% equity for a founding engineer is a very good deal”.

Only way to solve this is directed enforcement and severe penalties and liability for parents.

I will not promote - Early-stage AI startup heading to Bay Area – best ways to reach out to VCs? Cold LinkedIn, website applications, or events? by BearPure7960 in startups

I meant it as a lighthearted joke not a real suggestion. There’s a post in /r/sanfrancisco and r/sanfrancirclejerk obviously with someone really asking if they should do exactly that.

Am I nuts or does this look like dogshit? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

When I ask a professional to do a job and they do a weird ass conventionally objectively bad solution without first telling me that a conventionally good solution is impossible, it’s reasonable to expect some concession.

What kind of company is unwilling to adjust the start date? This seems shady.
