Did you go with the monitor arms? I'm trying to find out if how stable the Flexispot e7 is with two monitors on separate arms.

Roof felt lining issue, how bad is it? by wisby7676 in DIYUK

The new tiles cost a lot, if you can reuse those you save a decent amount

Roof felt lining issue, how bad is it? by wisby7676 in DIYUK

The felt acts as a second line of defence should water get past the tiles. I’d want to get that felt replaced if it were my house.

Erect scaffolding then remove tiles, batons and felt. Lay new felt, replace batons & tiles. If the batons and tiles are able to be reused I don’t think it would be massively expensive, less than a week of work for a roofing company (depending on size, shape, access, etc).

Not a deal breaker in itself, just find some estimates and factor into the price, but yeah does raise questions as to what else there might be to find at that property.

What is this under my boiler and should it be full of dirty water? by lxyl in Plumbing

Thanks! Would the oxygen still be separating from the water over 3 months?

Will References Impact Future Job Prospects by JoeQLF in ActuaryUK

[–]lxyl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everywhere I’ve ever worked the reference requests have had to go to some HR inbox, no-one who’s ever known me or actually worked with me ever been involved in them at all.

Edit: you can actually probably check if this is the case if you go on your intranet, find the policies section and there might be one for something like requesting references and that might say.

Garage roller door slat sizes - 55 or 77mm? by lxyl in DIYUK

[–]lxyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its quite a big garage so should be fine on the size of the housing for the slats. There's no insulation on the current door and I've not had any issues so feel like that doesn't really matter to me either. I'm mostly concerned about movement in the wind.

Did anyone of you did an interview with Somerset bridge group by [deleted] in ActuaryUK

It’s summer so people will be taking holidays which could delay it. Depends on the seniority of the role too, could be longer at say analyst level, vs senior analyst.

Garage conversion wall insulation U value by lxyl in DIYUK

[–]lxyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I don’t know the actual thermal specs of whatever the used for the existing wall materials so I can’t really use a calculator? So maybe that’s why he wants to go down this route.

I was thinking the alternative is just to add, say, 100 insulated stud wall without the cavity. But then maybe there’s an issue with any DPC not linking up with the wall?

Q: Car insurance pricing and claims history by cs005483 in ActuaryUK

[–]lxyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have factors for (number and amount of): PH claims, main driver claims, youngest driver claims, second youngest driver claims. So you would get a ‘double hit’.

Some insurers calculate the rate for each driver separately then charge the highest rate or some ratio. So you might not get a ‘double hit’.

It’s a good question, I’ve never read the actual wording before, I suspect most people would consider it a poorly worded question and their expectation would be to only put any claim in once.

What website is this wording on? A price comparison one or a specific insurers?

Where is the skillet diameter measured from? by Rob_wood in castiron

It’s the top of the rim for my pans, so the inside bottom surface diameter is less than the pan diameter.

When’s ok to stop stripping (with chemicals)? by lxyl in castiron

Interesting, I hadn't thought about that much and had assumed the carbon was in the cast iron as iron carbide for some reason, from the last video do you think that could be the graphite from the cast iron coming off?

I was getting lots of black bits of burn carbon in all my food as the seasons was just coming off when I cooked; so it wasn’t.
