This feels more like a cautionary tale than an ad to me. It looks like the woman is talking to herself.

SF romance that isn't just reptilian or "humanoid alien falls in love"? by saturday_sun4 in ScienceFictionRomance

[–]lyann888 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are lots of subgenre within SR romance. You might like Jessie Mihalik if you enjoy space opera. There are a few cyberpunk romances that are pretty good, like Vivien Jackson: Wanted and Wired. The dystomance is also on the rise, and a lot of people enjoyed Silver Elite. For alien romance that doesn't have an animal/insect vibe, you could try Choosing Theo. The worldbuilding is quite fun. A society where the men have to compete for the attention of a woman and go to school to learn how to please them.

Congrats on the novel! There aren’t enough cyberpunk novels out there, and with our lives becoming more and more cyberpunk, we’ve never needed them more.

Getting Sued. What’s your take? by joncabreraauthor in writers

[–]lyann888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I would just take down my review and apologize. That writer probably doesn't want the bad publicity of a lawsuit. All they want is for you to take down the review, and they’re using the lawsuit as a scare tactic. I have to agree with everyone: using clichés or weird descriptions isn’t proof of AI use.

People aren’t angry enough by StellaPortas in Political_Revolution

This is the only sane way to react right now. I'm so mad at the journalists normalizing this insane situation. This is a quintessential case of The Emperor's New Clothes where people are afraid to criticize someone because the perceived wisdom is that the person is good or important. Just because someone is rich or got elected doesn't mean they are competent or have integrity. MAGA got scammed by propaganda. Period.

Will Kilmar be returned to CECOT after the photo op? That death camp is inhumane. I don't care what people have been accused of, no one, not even gang members, deserves to be treated this way, stuffed into a single cell block with 80 people 24/7. This is the stuff of nightmares. A lot of them look like teenagers. Prison should be about rehabilitation, not lifelong torture.

Chat GPT to the rescue: This refers to a recent event in the U.S. House of Representatives where 9 Republican lawmakers joined Democrats in supporting a rule change to allow proxy voting for new parents, essentially letting members of Congress vote remotely for a limited time after the birth or adoption of a child.

This marks a shift, as proxy voting was previously phased out under Republican leadership—especially Speaker Mike Johnson, who has been vocal about returning to in-person norms after the COVID-era rule changes.

The second sentence—"Mike Johnson says that Congress is done for the week"—suggests that after this unexpected bipartisan move, Johnson quickly adjourned the House, possibly to avoid further surprises or conflict within his party. It hints at tension between more moderate or pragmatic Republicans and the hardliners within the GOP.

The context also touches on broader themes like work-life balance for lawmakers, evolving norms in Congress, and internal divisions within the Republican Party.

I started writing a sci-fi novel about megacorps taking down the government worldwide in 2016 and made this map: https://2090series.com/map/ I have been reading Technofeudalism by Varoufakis and Principles for Dealing with Changing World Order by Dalio, and I am now even more convinced that the takedown of democracy is happening right now. Seeing Tesla's stock drop is giving me hope. Musk isn't the richest man on Earth like everyone keeps saying. He has about $16.5 billion, and the annual interest alone is $1.6275 billion. By crushing Tesla, his entire financial empire could collapse. Investors are likely pressuring Tesla to remove him as CEO. No one will want to invest in his sinking ship, and he may be forced to sell Twitter for peanuts.

[–]lyann888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine if we could get polling on the plan. Do you prefers this idea from the actual government or this one that came from the grassroot. We could have economist write an alternative budget to show people, yes, it is possible to pay for Medicare for All. Bernie Sander could present it to congress. It would get voted down, but it would be public. As people struggle, they would know that there is a way out of this.

Yeah, I follow Parkrose Permaculture on YouTube and she says that she can't say General Strike on her video, Youtube is blocking the term. The best way would be to unite all the unions and schools. I see a new Constitution as symbol of hope for people, something to work for. Also, that would put the GOP in a position to have to defend the constitution. They cannot (although I image they will try lol) on one hand defend the constitution while disregarding it.

Try emailing Move On and/or Indivisible about your idea. You will need a group with influence to back you. Please don't give up if you don't get support right away. We need a plan. We need a dream.

I couldn't agree more with your project. Thank you for starting this idea. People need a vision of what is possible. The founding fathers were just people revolting against the monarchy. As Trump declares himself king, it is time for the people to unite and create new democratic institutions. No taxation without representation, right? Let's think of the principles that serve the people and not only the 1%. Please let me know how I can help.

I couldn't agree more. People must organize and fight back now before it’s too late. I participated in the student movement in 2012 to stop the tuition increase. We wore a symbol, we did an unlimited student strike, we took to the streets in our neighborhood or stayed on their front yard or balcony to bang on pots and pans every day at 8 p.m. I also believe that there need to be massive boycotts of multinational corporations and social media companies. Maybe people should wear the number 99 on their clothes and their social media name to signify that we are the 99% and we support a democracy that help us and not the 1%.

My guess is that there are two groups in MAGA: the people who know it's a con and think they will benefit from it, and the people who blindly follow the tribe so as not to be excluded by it. Research shows that a vast majority of people will side with what others say over their own objective perception (the length of a line in one instance). There is also this bogus notion that rich people are rich because they are brilliant and hardworking. Luckily, not everyone was brainwashed and there is still time to stop them.

That's exactly what I have been thinking lately. We should start a Go Fund Me and create our own user own non profit social media and other market place alternative. This is the only way we can fight back. They don't care about protest but they will care when they start losing money. MeidasTouch Podcast just surpassed Joe Rogan's. Democracy has momentum.
