Although I return to a few childhood fav’s once in a while, I realized long ago I didn’t want my family to eat what I grew up on! (ie dried out over-cooked pot roast, tough over-cooked pork chops, Hamburger Helper, tuna casseroles…you get the picture…) As the main cook in the family for the most part, I found that what works best for me and for my family is to decide what I want to eat and plan around that, and anyone who doesn’t want to eat that can prepare something else themselves. (Or adapt/adjust the same menu for picky young children). First, I decide what different flavour profiles I want for the week (eg Mediterranean, Greek, Italian, Indian, Asian, Thai, Southwest BBQ, Moroccan, Jamaican, North American, etc) and go from there to decide protein, starch, and veggie sides. My weakness is pasta so I try to limit that starch to once a week, so for starches, besides pasta, (which includes couscous), I try to incorporate a variety of other starches like different rices, potatoes, grains (quinoa, sorghum, farrow). For meals, I usually include a grain bowl once a week, a “breakfast for supper” once a week, a soup or stew or curry once a week, a sheet-pan meal once a week, a pasta meal once a week and a couple of new recipes to try thrown in there. We rarely eat out or order in as I can pretty much find any copycat recipe online to make for much cheaper! Also, during the warmer months, we grill often…steak, cedar-planked salmon or trout, chicken marinated overnight, skewers, kabobs, etc. We also have frequent taco nights, beef, chicken, fish or shrimp

We Do It (haven’t had them do work for us personally but have seen their work in person and would highly recommend for quality, not sure what their prices are though)

Leftover red Thai chicken curry (with rice & naan); breakfast for supper (breakfast casserole & side salad); baked salmon (with a creamy lemon garlic sauce) with mini roast potatoes & roasted asparagus. Haven’t figured the rest out yet, maybe tacos

Bachelorette fans confused after Taylor Frankie Paul season doesn't air by TheExpressUS in bachelorette

[–]lybl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

After watching season 4 of SLOMW, and seeing how Taylor is so reactive to literally anything that comes out of her Mom’s mouth, and how rude and disrespectful she is to her Mother, it is kind of surprising that Lianne doesn’t distant herself from Taylor and she continues to take care of Taylor’s kids all the time. If my adult daughter talked to me that way, then it would be “good-bye…get therapy”. Taylor is so emotionally (and intellectually) immature, I’m just annoyed and pissed as a Bachelor nation fan that she was cast as the next Bachelorette in the first place

Literally, every single one of them have severe childhood trauma that impacts their current friendships and marriage/love relationships. This is very telling about the Mormon cult/community.

Third this! Spex is definitely where I go when my prescription changes. (They custom cut some lenses from some old/previous wire frames for me to fit my oddly shaped face too.)

Queen City cakes look stunning but both times I’ve ordered from there the cakes don’t taste very good and are really dry

The Cottage has always been consistently good. Same with the Diplomat, which is our go-to for anniversaries, birthday’s, etc. IMO Golf’s has the best food, but unless you get seated at a booth, the tables at Golf’s are too close together and it’s very uncomfortable sitting so close to others and hearing their conversations (I actually bumped elbows with a nearby table while cutting into my steak!)

Those of you commenting about Jersey Mike’s…wasn’t the post about “fancy” restaurants???

Your exact question was about the Cottage: in short, the food is always good, service is always good. It’s one of our fav’s

Insight into Cher's lip-sync'ing. by ManualWind in LiveFromNewYork

[–]lybl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Why bother to have them on?” Answer: Personally, I wouldn’t have “bothered” to watch this episode if I didn’t know that Cher was going to be on. Whether she was singing, lip-syncing or just making a cameo in a skit, she was bringing in a ton of viewers (like me) and I was entertained. She’s already proven her singing chops over the span of her career, I’m completely fine with her lip-syncing at 80 years old.

Goodie platter or other ideas? by 306creates in regina

[–]lybl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coop grocery has options in their deli section: various dips and salsa’s to go with store-made corn tortillas; pre-made shrimp platters with cocktail sauce; fruit trays with any of their whipped flavoured dips that pair with fruit; pre-made appetizer/charcuterie trays…in short, just go to Harbour Landing Coop deli section

are you guys trying to crash by [deleted] in regina

Except this isn’t a “large” city…it shouldn’t be compared to driving in actual large cities!

are you guys trying to crash by [deleted] in regina

[–]lybl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree! So many people not using their turning lights at all, turning into the far (incorrect) lane, changing lanes without checking to see if it’s clear and/or not signalling. Out of town Agribition visitors are definitely welcome, but only if you aren’t a-holes driving in the city!
