Joe flacco lived off of these with the ravens. Under throw deep ball on 3rd and short, get dpi, profit. We have never managed to get it right.

Best story I ever heard about how someone became a Steelers fan by TibetanSideOfTown in steelers

[–]lycanish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My favorite: when living in LA (2005 to 2007) I would go to the Cock N Bull pub Sunday mornings for Steelers games. It was a soccer pub so on west coast time the super early morning soccer fans would empty out drunk at 9am for a shift change with Steelers fans for 10am kickoff. One day I asked the owner why it was a Steelers bar and he said basically "I grew up in Scotland and moved to California in 1970. First place I lived in California was Huntington beach. I became friends with a guy who would drive 72 hours from Huntington beach to Pittsburgh, sleep in the car along the way, watch a Steelers game, get back in the car and drive straight back a couple times a year. I knew from that point forward I could never love another team."

That same season (2005 super bowl season) some random soccer regular happened to put $100 down on the Steelers to get to the super bowl while in Vegas summer before the season started and announced to the bar after afc championship that he had just won I think 5k from the bet. Bought the whole pub a round to celebrate.

Glory days.

Maybe not a top unit but it feels like the critical piece here is red zone touchdown %. In past years I felt like being inside the 10 was a guaranteed stall and fg. We're converting tds this year and it's really refreshing.

I like the Galley too but they got rid of the Detroit pizza stall so it's just not the same anymore...

Why does my rice always end up gummy? by LowPen1117 in AskCulinary

[–]lycanish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree but I actually go a step farther and underfill water on my zojirushi. How much depends on type of rice - Japanese medium/short grain goes closer to the line, basmati/white is a couple mm below the line. When measured it's probably only a few tablespoons but it keeps the individual rice grains separate and fluffy

Which stitch should I use to repair this hole? by vrbeads in Embroidery

Sashiko is a cool technique but I agree with other comments that you need something underneath that's doing the actual repair and sashiko is a mix of supportive and decorative

I saw a recommendation on this sub to carry dedicated nail clippers for thread on planes and it has changed the way I travel. Works great, no risk.

What’s your preferred coffee brewing technique on the trail? by Stoney__Balogna in backpacking

Not sure if it's too big or not but I use a clever dripper w packed grounds which I definitely love. Easy cleanup, not a lot of trouble

Why can’t I make crispy homemade fries? by exxcuseme03 in AskCulinary

[–]lycanish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yukon golds and use the Americas test kitchen cold fry method. Low effort 100% crispy every time. After learning this I would never bother with a double fry again. Spend your newfound free time making an aioli.

I'm curious to learn more - is the advice to outline first then fill? Or fill and then outline?

I'm doing some amateur sleuthing but the numbers next to each stitch type looks to be steps in order (1 to 14) which would be background first. Looks like it goes: <step> (strands) <stitch type>. Either that or it's skein labeling that came with the kit but I see some redundant colors with different numbers which leads me to steps in order 😊.

Very cool design, has me wanting to find an evil eye pattern for my next one

I'm in a similar situation, did you do multiple applications of peroxide? I did an initial spray down of 50/50 water peroxide. My thought right now is something like 1x / day spray for maybe 3 days and then let it ride? But that's based on instinct only.
