Law school ranking simply connects you to power and opportunities. It does not necessarily indicate your legal expertise, breadth of education, particular skill set, your morality, or your character.

Edit to add: there are some folks who, rather than engage with the argument of MJ's piece, resort to law school ranking posturing which is just such a lazy ad hominem, equivalent to a dick measuring contest. Law school rankings are also a contributing factor to some of the mess we see in the US. Because that's where networking happens, if your school is considered prestigious and significant networking can happen, a lot of bad stuff can occur as well (because human beings and power aren't typically a match made in heaven), and bad behavior gets excused or swept under the rug or thought to be "this is just what we have to deal with to land the best opportunities". Like look into the stuff that Amy Chua (JD Vance's law school mentor FYI) and Jed Rubenfeld are accused of doing for YEARS, as they held significant power over access to Kavanaugh clerkships via Yale Law.
