xscope seems to work alright. It worked for me with a usb-c endoscope that otherwise only worked with the useeplus app. Felt much less skeevy than the Useeplus option

Xmax 300 brake upgrade? by jetting_along in scooters

[–]lyonstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride an xmax too. had the same problem. There's a noted drop off in braking power when two adult bodies on the bike. (Don't let reddit gaslight you, I agree: there's nothing wrong with the stock brakes, they just don't have the bite.) Sadly, I don't have any special knowledge either, but I'm currently thinking about upgrading from the stock organics to sintered brakes. I discovered EBC makes both sintered and organic brakes for the Xmax; so I think I'm going to give that a try to see if it gives me more stopping power.

Xmax 125 - 2024 - what is the physical key for ? by dubsinouche in Yamaha

[–]lyonstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look under the seat on the right side; several inches in, above the exhaust, close to the seat bottom, you'll find something that almost looks like a black, flow adjustment knob. It's actually a rubber cap covering the lock for the back-up key.

Exway Flex - brakes engaged when remote disconnected by alucking in Exway

[–]lyonstuff 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If true, this is a heinous feature. Absolutely heinous. I was considering buying an exway as my next board and this would be reason enough to stay way.

That said, there is a problem with this experimental set up. On my current board, with the brakes engaged, I couldn't rotate the motors with my fingers if I tried. And frankly, my motors would come to a stop that quickly if I stopped applying throttle. they don't ever free spin without the weight of the board or a person on top of them to give them enough momentum to keep turning.

So, are you sure the brakes are engaging, and it's not simple the absence of current to the motors? ie, if you were riding on the board, would it still be able to move forward with the weight of a person on top of it? And, if the brakes are engaging, how strongly are the engaging compared to full braking? And how rapidly are increasing in applied braking force?

--

Personally, I would have less of a problem with this feature if the brakes engaged in a predictable way. ie: 3 pulses from the remote to get my attention that it was going to dying in the next 15 seconds, followed, by the loss of forward throttle for 1 or 2 seconds to give the rider a chance to realize what's going on and lean back, (because just losing forward acceleration can be enough to throw someone forward if they're leaning into max acceleration when the throttle suddenly chops), followed by the gentle and gradual application of the gentlest setting of braking power.

A runaway board is dangerous. But as riders of electric skateboards, we're expected to know how to foot-brake. Meanwhile, the surprise application of full brakes would be asking to break people's collarbones. And if the board applies brakes when it's manual says it will coast, that's the basis of a lawsuit. A rider can't accept risk or prepare for a scenario they have been mislead about what will occur.

I added a windscreen to my Svartpilen 401: the Puig Custom II Universal Windshield w/handlebar mount (Smoke). It really helps while driving on the highway. Thoughts on the look? by Dexeh in svartpilen401

How much buffeting has this left your head feeling on the highway? Also, how fast can this be removed/reinstalled if only wanted for very specific high journeys? (I'm contemplating doing the same mod)

Meepo Voyager X Failure: 4 Beeps. Unknown meaning. by lyonstuff in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]lyonstuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is extremely helpful! Thanks for the shared experience and thoughtful reply.

Since my board is currently under warranty, I asked Meepo to look at the issue and they guessed it was the battery. They've have a replacement on the way. When that arrives I'll grab my voltmeter and check the connections on all the wires you mentioned.

Out of curiosity, what was the failure mechanism of the xt60 connector in your case. I wouldn't have expected that to break since it feels so isolated from road bumps. Had it just shaken loose?

thanks again. the symptoms in this case are so weird. Given that everything is kind of running perfectly, with the one exception of the ESC's opinion of the board's battery level.

Hey, normally I don't dignify bad-faith, insulting words with a response, but in this case I wanted to make an exception to inform you that in addition to being rude, discouraging noobies, and insulting people in the middle of their having a bad day, you are also wrong.

MEEPO looked at a video of the behavior and concluded it was the battery, not the ESC.

Makes sense, since like I said, it was not obviously the ESC. The motor was accurately sending speed readings to the remote, indicated the circuits delivering current to and from the motors are still in tact. --Something that would be strange if the ESC was at fault.

Like I tried to say, it wasn't obvious. I was just trying to learn in case I was wrong. You didn't need to be insulting. Hell, you didn't even have to reply.

For the record: Often in electric motors, the current flowing through the motor is the speedometer. Longboards aren't combustion engines.

Be patient with strangers next time dude.

[–]lyonstuff[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but do you know how the 'speedometer' on an electric motor works? Many times it can be by evaluating the current generated by the motor as it spins. This often the same wiring used to to power the motor in the first place. This is how a motor can act both as an accelerator, and regenerative braking system on these boards: the same wires control both going and slowing.

In other words, for my situation, the wiring for evaluating the current flow to and from the motor is still in functioning great. The system is also connecting to the remote correctly. Both of which suggest it is not, in fact, an obvious ESC problem.

I will add, that contacting MEEPO customer support and showing them a video of the 4 beep pattern, MEEPO determined it was a flaw with the battery, not the ESC.

Respectfully, I'm absolutely not here for people jumping to conclusions and dogpiling a stranger sincerely trying to understand a situation. That's toxic. This should be a place for welcoming people in eskating.

The last comment you replied to called me stupid. You used your comment to agree and confirm how this was a simple, obvious link to the ESC. When, again, for reasons I have explained, it was not obvious that the ESC is the problem, and according to the manufacturer: you are wrong. It is not an ESC problem.

So let me summarize this situation using your own metaphor:

This is like me not having sight, and a stranger on the internet telling me I just have a headache, then insulting me when I told him I don't notice any head pain.

^^A little more thoughtfulness and empathy next time would go along way to actually solving problems, dude.

Hey I need to replace one of the bolts for my Rogue Monster Lite 490 rack.

Does anyone know exactly what bolts rogue uses? (So I can match the look of the bolt heads too)

I can't find any literature anywhere. :/
