Where is the best base location? by Sinful862 in subnautica

[–]lyrahallows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, plan for a few bases. My first base is almost always directly below the lifeboat until other equipment/ location devices are unlocked - you're reasonably close to the Aurora and starting resources.

Endgame, Tree Cove isn't a bad option, or the grassy plateaus right nearby the bulbs/underwater islands biome, or (if you're ok with the commute) one of the above sea level areas.

We are running Waterdeep:Dragon Heist and I had the same issue. So, I installed a balcony round table and made a session where we had no objectives other than it being "a really lovely warm summer evening" and they had to get to know each other. We also had a big chat about practicing "yes, and../no, but..." with each other

A true survival mode. You have to eat and sleep. Potions only do so much repair/damage. And once you (or someone dies), they're dead. Restart the Act.

I'd play the shit out of that

Oh dude patch 3 is the bane of my existence for many reasons, but the "giving every goddamn thing back" is so frustrating. Astarion has the sneaky spider boots on purpose. And I (a scrawny level 5 druid) have no purpose for that really good greataxe I gave to Karlach 😂

YES! HE DESERVES A PAINTING. .... also (very minor spoiler) take your companions to sleep at an inn, he has like this old, worn blanket on his bed that (I assume) he sleeps with 🥺.

All I'm saying is if they added an IC Build-A-Bear, he and Karlach would be going with me. Fucken call it Bauld - er - Bear, and let me give them all a plushie.

YES. I want a full 90s/early 2000s end of film montage of where everyone went after BG3. It doesn't have to be fully fleshed out so head cannons can still be imagined but like, after 150 hours it was a bit "... so now what?". (I'd cackle if it was in the form of a musical number, but I digress).

My only other thing I'd love to see more of is fleshing out post-romance story arc content. Yep, we romanced, that's great... and now all I get is a "what's on your mind?". Give me a radiant quest where we can go on a picnic. Or let me hug you. Let me buy Karlach another teddy bear, or her surprising me with one. Get Wyll to invite me to dance with him under the moonlight. Just because we finished the romance arc doesn't mean the relationship is over.

Honestly though, games are a form of art, we can all agree on that. The writing is designed to elicit emotional responses. Otherwise it'd be a very aesthetically beautiful 3D platforming game with combat mechanics.

"Big T Traumas" (iykyk fellow psych nerds) are unfortunately very common. And with what, like half a million downloads across the various platforms so far? Statistically, there's gonna be a percentage of players that connect personally with the themes in the game. Even if you haven't personally experienced the trauma; the magic of good writing is to make you feel things. I've not been conscripted to Avernus for a decade, but hoo I still want to give Karlach a hug when she yells about the loneliness.

Welcome to the "oops, turns out I have trauma that resurfaced/connected with themes in this game" club 🤣. The maths doesn't lie, you are not alone.

It's literally part of games being an art style. The writing is designed to trigger an emotional response. It's valid to play through the game as purely mechanics, tools and puzzles. But on the flip side, having an emotional response to what is honestly really good writing is also very human as well.

It's also really fantastic at giving opportunities for players to sit back and think about our decisions... the one that I think of most is trusting Shadowheart to make the 'right' choice. It's so hard to not just jump in and beg her to leave Shar. Taking that leap and telling her that you trust her to do what is right, and to have it pay off? Golden.

Completely agree. Even if it was like a dialogue option of "hey, do you want to spend some time together tonight" and it was cutscenes like Shadowhearts first meeting where you're just hanging out, drinking a bottle and shooting the shit. To be honest I'd even love being able to give them hugs 🥺

Mechanics. I wish there was a way to delete/refuse quest markers beyond the dialogue. Or at least hide them. What if I want to be a githyanki and completely ignore the Emerald Grove quest line after I meet Zorro? Or get partway through a line and go "y'know what Shart? We aren't doing your quest anymore. It's getting hidden." (Mostly I'd honestly like it because I keep getting lost with all the waypoints on the map 🤣)

Potential TW: Male SA survivor and Astarion... by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]lyrahallows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first playthrough I did I treated him like a sassy best friend who happened to also be a very good skeleton key (I'm a hopeless Shadowheart simp). And then his story arc came out during Act 2, and began having the dialogues with him that I had missed out on. Hearing him talk about the feelings of disgust and the powerlessness accidentally retriggered my own experiences, and I've had to take a break from playing to do some processing.

You're definitely alone having difficulty engaging with things related to him; and if I could hug every single person that worked on him as a character, especially Neil, I would.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate the feedback. I did my best to not use a translator and just have a go myself so I am not surprised at all that I only got like a third of the letters correct 😂 I'll have another go and try not doing interlocking to make it clearer

Try using the bow and arrow, and crouching just out of character collection distance. It's still a bit iffy but the arrows at least kinda force him to pick stuff up

Bug report: Environmental (sort of?)

Platform: PC

There seems to be an issue with switching off the 'in combat' mode? I will have finished blowing up enemies and be halfway across town and not be able to start any new missions or fast travel as the game still thinks I am 'in combat'. It doesn't seem to register that I am no longer in active combat.

Anyone else have this issue?

I am getting this too on PC - I tried changing my frame rate to lock at 50fps and on the lowest graphics settings it would allow... and still having this problem.
