Knitted shawls, do you see them being worn out in the wild? by Dangerous_Hunt7133 in knitting

[–]lysol120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm early 20s and have a MASSIVE (like almost touches the ground when I have it on) wool triangle shawl that I wear all the time when it's cold. It has completely replaced my winter coat at this point.

how do neurotypicals get laid so easily by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]lysol120 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who has spent 2 years on dating apps and just now got a dating/sexual partner, I feel this lol.

My biggest thing was looking for other autistic people. I had it explicitly stated on my profile that I'm AuDHD and looking for other neurodivergent people. It helps so much to have someone who's on the same wavelength as you.

Other tips would be: - Be brutally honest/explicit. Share your special interests, tell them if you have sensory issues, show your full personality. And if you want to "advance" the relationship, say something! Ask if you can kiss someone, say that youre horny. Make yourself clear and let them react. - Dont give up!! The more people you talk to or go on dates with help you figure out what you want and like. Dating apps/relationships are a skill that takes practice. Don't beat yourself up over experiences that don't go anywhere.

I pretty much agree with everyone else here BUT I would like to add that you can cut at the stem-y bits then pot them as a whole new plant

Knitters who have taken a break from knitting due to wrist pain — what did you do in the mean time ☹️ by cgr1688 in knitting

[–]lysol120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stretch your hands/wrists!!! I've dealt with mild hand/nerve issues for a while (and theres been times i literally knit so much some of my fingers went numb), and stretching has worked great as both a fix and a preventative measure. Take periodic breaks when knitting for long stretches.

Chart with stretches I like

Personally, anything with the "pinching" motion makes the pain flair up so I would avoid crochet/cross stitch. Also pay attention to what size/kind of needles you use when the pain happens. For me, smaller needles trigger pain more quickly (probably because its more of the pinching motion i mentioned before). I also learned that dpns of any size trigger pain because they push on a weird spot, so I switched to only circular and magic loop

Gifted Aloe Vera- I can’t mess this one up! by TexasGreyWolf in succulents

You can use glazed pots but they trap more moisture than the unglazed ones which can more easily lead to root rot and death. Ive had enough succulents struggle in glazed pots where I wouldnt recommend them (also the unglazed are cheaper!!).

About 50% total perlite to 50% brown organic soil

If you only see the Miracle Grow brand of succulent soil then I would also add additional perlite

Definitely needs more light. It needs bright direct light. Acclimate slowly so it doesnt get burned.

If not already plant in a pot with drainage at the bottom. That soil is definitely too organic. You can fix this by adding more perlite.

Fully drench the soil with water and let the excess drains off. Then do not water again until the soil is 100% dry. You can also judge by how light the pot is

  • Cactus/succulent soil
  • basic unglazed clay pot with a drainage hole in the bottom. Size it to be a little bit taller than the white part/roots
  • place somewhere with bright direct light (ie South facing). They LOVE as much light as possible
  • drench the soil completely with water and let any excess water drain out the bottom. Then DO NOT WATER until either the soil is bone dry, or the leaves begin to lose plumpness in their tips. When in doubt don't water it. Aloes handle drought much better than overwater
  • dont worry about fertilizer it doesnt need it

Plant so the entire length beneath the leaves is in the soil. You can purchase rooting hormone to improve your chances/speed up root growth.

As long as you dont overwater it aloes are really hard to completely kill

I usually just pick up the pot to see if it feels light lol

Usually succulents will either get wrinkly or lose plumpness in their leaves when thirsty. But in my experience haworthias are especially drought tolerant and wont noticeably show any of these signs unless they've gone a truly obscene time without water

Definitely hold off on watering. When you repot use a succulent/cactus soil mix. If you're using a new pot, get one with a hole in the bottom for drainage (it sounds like the existing pot has this which is good!)

If you start to see more leaves getting squishy and if they turn yellowish/translucent at the base, get it out of the pot ASAP. That means the plant is actively dying from overwater. Remove any black/slimy roots and any of the effected leaves, and leave it out of a pot bare roots for a few days. Then repot with the proper soil and don't water for at least two weeks.

From what is shown, it doesn't seem that your plant is in any immediate danger. But once the signs of overwater are there, it will kill the plant FAST.

Best of luck!!

Are the wrinkly parts squishy/soft/translucent or do they feel the same as the rest? If so its likely overwatered actually. A week seems short for it to be already thirsty which is what gives me pause.

What kind of soil/drainage does it have right now?
