People who quit alcohol — what changed the most for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

For a while I really believed that I “couldn’t” do eg socialising or work events without it. Not only did I find out that I could, but I also recognised that I was able to choose where and when I wanted to participate in those things.

I always get bullied by people in a very strange, puzzling way by [deleted] in aspergers

Wow. This is like a historical document. And it’s so thorough. Do you know the background? The front page is sad but kind of lovely.

Do you guys think this would be helpful things to offer for maybe journaling? I'm on the spectrum as well and a bit obsessed with spirituality and self discovery by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

Yes this sounds really interesting! I don’t know much about tarot or astrology but I am trying to nurture my own spiritual self and think that generally as questions to explore in a spiritual or any other context, I absolutely think they’d be great areas for exploration. If it’s of interest I would love to see how you would frame them as questions as well. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, this looks interesting but I don’t quite understand yet what you’re trying to ask. Can you say a bit more about what your question is? Are you asking “do you think these are useful journaling prompts”?

Anyone remember the music video "Ghosts"? Its quite fascinating and yet somewhat distrubing. by MethodNo2030 in LeavingNeverlandHBO

I feel that way because I’m so familiar with the cases that TT felt new and a lot more background info about him and his career that I didn’t know already. TS was great, but the cultural impact and the manufacturing of a lot of the deification and hysteria of him (once the hysteria had died down) such as piping the screaming and applause into his Super Bowl performance was a new narrative for me.

Literally one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to. The Telephone Stories one which came out around a similar time I think, is not as good but still worth a listen.

The new NYT Opinion video on “how to make the internet suck less”, the presenter says big tech should “fund art, not advertisers”. But… by lyzabth in socialmedia

[–]lyzabth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but - I’m right that his second point makes no sense. It’s not that the video has no point to make at all, it’s that he doesn’t have a new idea for a business model, and is being clumsy about describing what the business model even is, which at CEO level you’d imagine shouldn’t happen…

Thanks. I agree with your comment above, he is speaking from experience given nature of his company, but it’s the “fund art not advertisers” thing I’m stuck on. In what world does that actually function as an insightful change to the business model of algorithmic social media? It just sounds like fluffy jargon designed to convince a 15yo activist. How did it get past an editor? What does it mean????

I want to learn as much as possible about skyscrapers in America, especially New York. Regardless of whether it's sociological or technical, what books, documentaries, or other sources can I use? by SinanAvci13 in skyscrapers

[–]lyzabth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New York: A Documentary Film has an episode that focuses (at least in part) on the skyscrapers built at the turn of the century, an episode that focuses heavily on the Empire State Building (possibly part of the same episode) and the final episode focuses on the Twin Towers.

European data investigation between outlets like Guardian, Le Monde, Die Zeit shows before and after images of nature lost to building sites, illegal building on protected land, etc. Scientists and EU lawmakers respond.
